This really stuck with me while reading the interview because it is very true. I may be a Gaga fan, I may be a Beyoncé fan, but I can't quite connect deeply with songs like Bow Down or Aura because I'm not famous and I don't struggle with those subject matters. Of course I adore both of those songs but I just can't connect on the level I do with music by artists like Adele, Amy Winehouse, Alanis Morisette, etc (1D as well but y'all are gonna drag me for including them in a list with the above).
That's not dragging Gaga or Bey by the way since on the whole their discography is very relatable and it's not a problem in most cases but that quote got me thinking.
