caitlyn on the otherhand is constantly saying controversial comments, she's really done next to nothing this year other than kill someone in a car crash and get away with it, not once talking about it or giving her apologizes regarding it when she was in the fault in the car crash. she has said homophobic comments, she never speaks about anything for the trans community unless it benefits or finances her (her show/her interview/her magazine). it's a shame the media is just doing this as someone said before to become in a good light and "look good" and follow a trend. there are many other women and trans-women who have done a lot more this year and it's quite frankly disgusting that caitlyn is getting this cherished award.
edit: let me add to this lol
the irony in this thread is that a lot of the people defending her are the same people that would attack any cis-gendered person for saying something homophobic. as someone stated the G and T are very different things in the "LGBT" acronym. i don't think one discrediting or insulting another should be omitted, i don't think that just caitlyn is trans she is allowed to say homophobic things and quite frankly she deserves the hate she gets for it. so if caitlyn doesn't want the support of the "G" in the LGBT then she will get what she wishes. all of the LGBT is still trying to aim for equality, if she wants to put down 1/4 of that acronym then I am done with her and I think every other gay person should be too. the trans community themselves, most of the ones i know on a personal-level do not see her to be a hero or inspirational or anything as the media labels her as, there's more "indie" (?) activists that have done miles more than her. the only reason she is getting the limelight is due to the media-outlets that just can't stop talking about the kardashian/jenner family which is a totally 'nother story.

Gigi Gorgeous is NOT an activist
Post me one of her speeches or 'movements'. She is praised solely by her pre-teen fans for how pretty she is and how perfect her makeup is and whilst I agree and think this is fine, she could definitely be doing more for her community. She hardly has any videos of her talking about her trans experience or any issues within her own community.
On to Caitlyn, the only controversial comment she has made is the one about gay marriage on Ellen which really depends on perception, and some of the little mistakes that y'all like to pull up and crucify her for on her show, which again were quickly corrected and explained by her trans friends. Yes, the G in LGBT is very different from the T, and any ignorant comment from either parties shouldn't be ignored. However, y'all make out like she said she hates homosexuals or used an offensive slur. Like gay people can be transphobic, which is VERY evident from this thread and the attitude's of members on this forum, trans people can be homophobic. I'm not saying either is acceptable (and I'm not sure Caitlyn is homophobic either, I think she's just ignorant. Hopefully she has learned since that interview) but it's not an impossible concept like y'all try to make out because gender identity and sexual orientation are two completely different things.
