Racism & xenophobia.

I have observed both white and black people being racist and condemning against Asians (well, I find most community are racist against other races). I don't think they are ready to welcome Asian culture wholeheartedly sans a few fads here and there.

Oh please There is plenty of racism against black and Latino people and yet those cultures produce global superstars and hits every year.

Asian pop music is just by and large very niche and not as universally appealing.

It's not racism, Asians just aren't making music that will sell.

I find the Asian Americans are even more discriminated against than the black Americans (Just my personal thought, so don't argue on this part)

And objectively, US culture has infused with various elements from black culture, so it's easier for a black artist to break through. They also have a bigger community to support them.

Asians are much more of a minority than black and Latino people in the US. And Asian culture is vastly different than western culture which people pass off as "weird"

Moreover, Asian is just an umbrella term. Korean / Japanese / Chinese / Vietnamese / Thai, etc. Americans don't share the same culture.

The community support is minimal.

Who is saying anything about kpop? There are plenty of asian artists just as if not more talented than current pop or urban artists trying to make american pop or urban music.

The truth is that the majority of Americans don't find asians, especially asian men attractive whatsoever (due to racism). Ask any white girl on the street and chances are they'll date a white, black, hispanic man before they date an asian.

Racism tbh. All the other races in America have representation in pop music except for Asians. Whites and blacks are heavily represented, Latinos have Shakira, Demi, JLO, Selena, etc. Also, people need to realize that when Asian Americans are asking for representation, it doesn't always mean we want kpop stars, it also means we want Asian Americans aka Asians who sing English songs.

It's because there isn't any Asian American act with a sound that's catered to the American GP. Charice could have been bigger back in 2008 something but things didn't work out for her so now we're just gonna have to wait. I think it's also something with the way a lot of Asian Americans are raised I think, the parents would be happier if their kids turn out to be lawyers & doctors than being entertainers

Girl there are a lot of asian americans who are trying to make it recording current american pop or urban music. Its just that they are so overlooked because they are asian.

Look at jessica sanchez for example. Recorded a stargate produced current dance pop track but it went nowhere. The only reason it has a few million views on youtube is because of her following from american idol.

Latinos barely have any representation, considering they are 17% of the population. Whereas black people are only 13%, but they have SO much representation, with half the iTunes Top 20 in recent months being black artists.
