I just hope it's clear that if you're playing the numbers game, then it is not a debate. It's not a "well Taylor might pass her." It's not a "they're about equal." It's not a "Taylor is a little more successful."
Taylor is MUCH more successful. On the Hot 100, the Billboard 200, radio, album sales, everything.

These girls will drown you under 'but she sold more' type sentences without taking the context into consideration.

When Taylor gets to album #8, then we'll talk.
I've honestly always thought Britney and Taylor had similar personalities. Britney always had performances that were meant to stick out because that's just what her and her management wanted. So Britney in terms of iconography, but Taylor's legacy will shine just as bright in the future.

Why does she have to get to album 8? It's not as though Femme Fatale and Britney Jean were resounding successes in the U.S. Not looking like her 9th will be either if Pretty Girls is any indication.

Speak Now sold less than Fearless, Red sold less than Fearless and 1989 sold less than Fearless.
If we use your definition, Taylor hasn't had longevity, either
The only artists that would fit would be Demi and Ariana

Swifties, please don't fall for other stanbase's trick. Army and Swifties never had a problem before even if Taylor was very close to break Britney record. Please!

The only album released in 2014 to sell over 1.3M copies in the entire YEAR was 1989.
The only album to sell over 1.3M copies this entire YEAR is 1989.
In the year 2000, 88 albums sold over 1 million units.
In the year 2014, 3 albums sold over 1 million units.
In the calendar year 1999, 8 albums sold over 4 million copies.
In the past five years, four albums have sold more than 4 million copies: Speak Now by Taylor Swift, Red by Taylor Swift, 1989 by Taylor Swift, and 21 by Adele.
Taylor Swift will surpass Britney's total album sales in the U.S. with her next studio album.

This alone makes Taylor's dominance in the U.S. crystal clear.

Britney outsold Taylors total album sales buy a long shot with her first 2 albums alone
Britney wins and its not even close taylor can have her digital singles and her streams and het stadiums but overall success shes not even close Britneys like the biggest selling female album wise of the last 15 years BOMT is miles bigger than any thing Taylors recorded

Taylor will of course surpass britney in some fields of success eventually but lol she will never have the same impact, legacy or recognition in pop culture & music britney has nor will she ever be the phenomenon britney was. Anyone who says otherwise is a laughable, deluded hick. Britney was bigger than anything Taylor and her digital sales & video views can ever hope to become

Britney, obviously. If you weren't talking or walking during her prime then you really have no idea of how huge she was.

I hope this post isn't serious
The only thing she beats Taylor in is album sales

So it isn't fair to compare Britney's album sales from the early 2000s to Taylor's sales, but we are also supposed to assume that Britney didn't have longevity because her album sales decreased as the years went on? Was Britney supposed to be immune to the market collapse and continue selling 30 million copies of all eight of her albums?

People are very cruel to Taylor because they feel intimidated by her. Once her career cools down, they will realize how big she really was, just like they did with Britney.

Just because Taylor has stable album sales doesn't mean she's bigger. I mean just look at BOMT, OIDIA, Britney, even ITZ.

1989 has outsold both Britney and ITZ in the US. Most of her albums have.
It's about to outsell ITZ worldwide as well.
