A quick trip to Metacritic would set you on the right path. It's really not hard to do some basic research before running around tying to state your opinion as facts. Out of 5 albums 2 albums are rated in the 70s, 1 in the 80s, and two in the 60. Hardly mediocre. Like I said, a quick lil fact check will save you further embarrassment.

Also, winning 90% of your grammys in R&B categories with no competition is hardly remarkable really. There are people who have outsold her, out grossed her, won more awards in more competitive fields and made more money in outside ventures.
She might be the artist with most media praise, but that is really nothing when your music doesn't resonate with the public.

Death @ you trying to redfine what achievements are. She has more then most of the girls discussed on the board aside from the likes of Madonna and Mariah. But of course the thread title does say "our generation". I don't mind people disputing, but for the sake of a valid argument you can go ahead and list these other people and their notable career achievements.

I FAIL to see your point. The fact that she is so successful being an R&B artist and arguably bigger than your fave says it all. I don't want to even post her awards (mind you she is the third most awarded artist in history and soon to be second) . The fact that this thread is about exceed 7 pages shows how much her work continues to bother some of you. She is very accomplished in many areas.

Well said. People are constantly invalidating her achievements to the likes of what they see fit, which is usually very specific and bias. The fact that people choose a handful of examples to complain about when the OP listed over 100 (with more than valid ones) speaks volumes.

People are throwing around "Self-titled ***** on your fave's music", which I kind of agree (it's her only good album so far, though), but can't they see that she didn't even write the song which sings about her losing her baby? Or the song that sings about her love for her daughter?

How can they talk about the album like it was an accomplishment when we all know the album's success - and I'm being careful with this word, since Self-title was heavily frontloaded and didn't span any WW hit - is mostly due to the large team of songwriters and producers she hired and not to her?
