I don't get how pop radio didn't eat up XO. It's such a heart warming, radio friendly song.

I really don't know anymore. I thought XO would be a big pop radio hit, but that didn't seem to go over well.
But anyway, I don't really think Bey gives a damn.

Beyonce's 1 of those artists that needs someone else on the track to have hits nowadays more than ever. The right person on the track will give Bey the pop radio play she needs. Gaga was big when Telephone came out, and that helped get Be played on pop radio, and have her the biggest pop radio hit of her career. A non solo song like Drunk In Love clearly isn't going to have the same effect with Jay Z.

...yes, i'm sure pop radio is all about cutting checks from labels. especially when songs like thrift shop get played without being from any label at all and others get played even though they're not from a major label. no, this is an excuse. pop radio plays what's both popular and will attract a lot of listeners, so they generally play songs that are both radio friendly enough to keep people from listening and also popular to attract more people. that's all. there's a reason singles by artists on major labels do badly sometimes, because they don't play just because you pay them. but i'm sure beyonce is the ultimate bastion of artistic integrity that's just too good for these silly labels and radio and better than any other artist in every way. you keep thinking that.

Thank you so much for stating YOUR OPINION (nothing more, nothing less). If it isn't too much trouble, can I remind you of an article that was posted here several days ago? It talked about how ONE director of pop radio had a HUNCH that listeners could enjoy Fancy by Iggy, so it was played twice or three times an hour on each station, rapidly accumulating airplay and increasing itunes numbers as it went towards the top.
POP radio is a GAME (simple as that). It is about connections, corruption, and deceit. I would not be suprised if some report about corruption on POP radio came out. Maybe BEY should continue to steer clear. I won't say any names but Capitol and Republic Records should be a bit worried.

Considering drunk in love did exceptionally well on pop even though it was an urban only single I would think not. But you know atrl, they love discrediting Beyonce any chance they get. So over it.

This album isn't really pop at all. Plus, she needs to release the right singles, and the right time, in the right way. It's clear she's not focused on her singles this era
|
This this this
Beyoncé's singles being compared to other girls singles when they actually gave a **** about them
Bey is not doing things the normal way like everyone else this era, it's not that hard to grasp

They were never sent to pop because for some reason or another Beyonce hasn't always been adored by radio. I feel like Sasha Fierce and her debut era were the only ones truly radio accepted with Single Ladies, If I Were A Boy, Halo, and Sweet Dreams all being radio mainstays at the time. And her debut of course having Crazy In Love, Baby Boy, and Naughty Girl as radio mainstays. B'Day only produced Irreplaceable and 4 didn't have anything that really probed radio much like this record. B'Day at the time was seen as a bit of a sophomore slump for her in comparison to her major debut and 4 was obviously not seen as a commercial success. So it made sense. But I find it odd that this album wasn't as prevalent on radio as Sasha was. This was arguably her best album and her most infamous thanks to the release strategy, yet XO didn't stick on radio whatsoever and subsequently nothing else was officially sent to pop radio because they weren't sticking in test runs. Drunk In Love got on there for a little second, which also baffled me because it seemed like the song was so popular. But then you also have to wonder and acknowledge how much the media shoves themselves up her ass and makes everyone follow suit. So.

Beyonce does care about pop radio. Otherwise, why would she release DIL to urban and XO to pop?
And then release Partition to urban and Pretty Hurts to pop (well, it got scrapped apparently which to me implies chart performance anxiety which shows she does care imo).
She lies and says that she doesn't care about pop radio to make an excuse for her underperformance there. But she does care. Personally, I think she makes a big mistake not promoting her urban singles on pop radio or internationally more. DIL and Partition >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> XO and Pretty Hurts.
I also think Bey's struggles with pop radio preceded 4 and started with the B'day era. I don't think pop radio knew what to do with any of those songs except for Irreplaceable.

As long as she keeps recording music they'll be there. I mean, she's Beyonce. Even DIL reached #12.

pop radio sound is changing constantly since 2010 and Beyoncé hasn't mind adapting her sound to it yet. not that she can't and you know that she will but because her plans were drawn independently of what radio want.
and I bet that B6 will be still experimental and non-radio friendly.

??? Beyonce was radio artist of the decade. If she wants to cater to pop she will get play. Right now she really isn't focusing on single success. Besides XO, nothing has been sent to pop. She didn't even capitalize of off flawless remix while the internet was going crazy. No release to itunes and no video. Meanwhile the song was getting millions of hits. It's actually kind of frustrating. She didn't even promote Drunk in Love like she should have nor did she even release it ww.

Well kind of, yes, but that's because Bey doesnt make music which caters to pop radio.
Tbh I think Blow would have gone top 10, had she released it.

Yeah, I kinda think they are
It's almost shocking how bad Drunk in Love did on pop radio with all the promo and hype she had from the album release. Then the fact that nothing else other than like two or three of her singles have even made a dent on the pop radio charts in her last two eras is very... odd for a star her size in the music industry.

It's because Bey has talked publicly about what they want her to do, and she isn't having it

Pop radio was never able to Stan for 2 black women at the same time.
Rihanna is the one allowed in the circle right now.
