But AGAIN, being obese literally has no effect on anyone else but the individual (sans food costs and what not but this factor is eliminated if they live by themselves). Like I said before, if someone is aware of the effects of being obese but happily continues their lifestyle then I fail to see why they need to be shamed for it?

It's obvious. It's because they think fat people are gross and ugly and that they shouldn't have to see them. If the health effects of overeating or lack of physical activity didn't show themselves physically, they wouldn't care.

Why should it be my responsibility to waste my time to tell some random to lose the fat.

People smoke and they know it's bad for them but I'm not going out of my way to stop them. It's your body your choice.

Same way with people who make other bad life choices. I would only try to help if it's a family or close friend.

If you can better yourself, I think you should at least try to. But not all big people can help their size due to genetics, etc. And even those who can may have a lot of things getting in the way - a busy lifestyle with work and kids, for example. It's not as easy to stay in shape as some of you think it is.
