I don't think her songs are more difficult than any other big voiced Diva's but the way Patti Labelle sings her songs and those of others is super hard. There's so much going on all the time. This is one of her more subdued performances but still very difficult:
Well it is a song and it does exist so it qualifies as "hardest song to sing ever" I think. But ya it's a whole other genre that is based on skill and not image so just about any opera song will trump the difficulty of a pop song.
I love the way her voice sounds in the second part of her iconic high-notes. It sounds almost digital it's so well done. Imagine being able to make those sounds!
Diana Damrau is amazing, her voice is so heavy. Natalie Dessay's version sound more effortless though. You should check that one out.
Der Holle Rache is indeed one of the most difficult arias to sing ever. O Zittre Nicht (from the same opera) is just as demanding. Ingeborg Hallstein sings it best IMO, her voice is too sweet for the second aria but it's perfect for O Zitre Nicht.

The last minute is crazy
Ah thanks for posting this! And I'm listening to Natalie Dessay now. It's great!
