Catholic private schools have been teaching evolution (and Big Bang) for decades. They have no reason not to since the very first proponents of those theories were all Catholic scientists and the Church believes in theistic evolution.

Bit of random Trivia for you; it was called the "Big Bang Theory" by one of its critics who was trying to discredit the idea, but instead the idea of a massive explosion caught the publics imagination and the name stuck.

It's supposed to convey the idea that the universe is getting bigger expanding from a centre point, much like a bomb exploding, and not imply that an actual massive explosion happened.

You're missing the point. This is a SCIENCE class. Evolution is a SCIENCE theory. Creationism is not. This is not about forcing ideas, this is just about teaching what is actually SCIENCE and what is not.

You don't need god 'in your soul' in order to be a good person. How often have you seen people kill in the name of religion? Compare that to the amount of deaths in the name of Atheism.
