An Orbital base!? I checked Wonky few months ago and it's such a good album. "One Big Moment" is one of the most joyous songs I've ever heard and "New France" is so amazing.

Yes. I had to make a base for my ultimate faves. Since I was five years old
That's AWESOME. If you describe One Big Moment as Joyous, then YOU GET IT.
They truly capture emotion for me in their songs. It's wonderful.

Did you listen to anything else?
I had not until I heard that awesome bootleg of "Halcyon + On + On" you posted and now I'm hooked on the album version, it's so beautiful. I hope I can check all of their albums by the end of July.

You have such fantastic taste.
That song has a deep history. The original is on the OP. It simply "Halcyon"
it's beautiful. They made it in dedication to their mother, who was addicted to a drug called Halcion for many years.
Anyhow, in my about me, one of my favorite albums is an album called Mindfruit by Opus III .
On it is "It's a Fine Day". It is an older song than Halycon, but was a very popular hit. It is where the backmasked vocals in Halcyon come from.
If you love Madonna's Ray of Light, I highly recommend Mind fruit from Opus III, and also Guru Mother.
Also, if you've heard Azealia Banks "Liquorice" it sounds very similar to Orbital. That is because the producer, Lone, says he was inspired by the Orbital's "In Sides" and "Snivilisation" album .
His work sounds very similar to Orbital in general. It's fantastic.

You are like my musical soul mate, it seems.
That's so moving, makes me love the song even more, the video is really awesome and mental. I checked "It's A Fine Day" and I liked it so I'm obviously checking the album.
"Liquorice" is one of my favorite Azealia songs, thanks for the trivia!
And you're very sweet, you're one of the greatest surprises I've ever had on this site. I can't imagine what is like to be a fan of a band since you're five, feeling connected to every song and melody of their discography.
Their music seems to slightly change as time moves on, which is very exciting. I would've never guessed they've done tracks like "Halcyon" based on Wonky.

Aww, thank you. Sweetest thing ever.
It does change, but the factor that remains the same is their uncanny ability to inject emotion (usually joy or this, uplifting "on the come up"/feeling of progress that i cannot explain).
I have a couple free music downloads this week. I was thinking of downloading Wonky. Is it worth it? And how necessary are the live versions of: Lush, Impact, Belfast, Chime/Crime, and Satan?
Also, I'm just trying to get into these guys because I think I may like them. Is Wonky easier than In Sides as a gateway? In Sides is the only Orbital I've heard, and I couldn't get into it - it was way too long.

I am not a big fan of Orbital's music as "albums" personally, besides Snivisilation and the Blue Album. But I like the songs individually.
In Sides is my least favorite, the only song on it I use is "The Girl with the Sun in her Head". Snivilisation, The Middle of Nowhere, The Blue Album, Altogether, and Wonky, are much better "Albums" in my opinion. In Sides is kind of like an afterthought album, I don't know why so many people including Producer Lone stanned for it. Albeit The Girl with the Sun in her Head clearly inspires a lot of his work.
So yes, I think Wonky is the easier gateway, but besides it's records having some kind of keen ability to inject emotion and happiness into the listener like nothing else, it is not much like the rest of their music.
The live versions slay, but they aren't really that necessary tbh. I'm probably one of the biggest Orbital fans in the world (I say this with full confidence, from 5 years old been a fan) and I do not use the Live versions of their songs often.
If you don't find Halcyon (Original) beautiful, or You Lot inspiring, then they would be difficult to get into.
