Janet's new single Feedback is currently bulleting up at the Australian Itunes charts at #8 this week. The video is the most requested video on Channel V which is Australia's biggest music video program and the song is #1 this week on the Australian airplay charts. The new single is sure to be a huge hit when it officially gets released, it is expected to get to #1 which will be her first #1 since That's The Way Love Goes!
Her biggest selling single to date in Australia is Together Again, and Feedback is already outdoing the popularity of it's competition even before the single release. It is the fastest moving Janet song on any Australian chart!

That's good to know. As for why Janet's single is doing "poorly" it is because the music industry at the moment sucks. Anytime an album involving "Hannah Montana" or any other fictional tween character can reach number one on the billboard charts you know something is up. The music in America right now is stuck . . . creativity seems to equal failure whereas cookie cutter means decent sales. Alicia Keys and Mary J. Blige and other artists who I consider talented seem to be doing well, yet at the same time they are releasing "safe" material.
Janet has always been about trying something different, and she has always been primarily a pop artist, so what happens when the major pop superstars and content change like they have in recent years? It gets much harder to produce a hit record.
Listen to what people are saying "She needs a remix with T-Pain!" . . . T-Pain is crap, yes this is my opinion but this man has no talent. He sings about the club, sex, all the typical topics and does so in an unoriginal manner. Yes Janet has been singing about sex for ages but at least she tries to incorporate it into a theme. If the song isn't about the club, by a young female artists in her tweens, or something with a lame gimmick (Soulja Boy?) It doesn't catch on anymore . . . unfortunate but true.
Any real music listener could care less about sales. If the music is satisfying their ears then the artist will always get that money no matter what. Janet has had success (far more than most of these current female artists will ever see in their careers) so I doubt she cares about being the "it" girl again. She did it in the 90s, she's a pop icon, her family is pop royalty. No she wasn't perfect then and isn't now, but for a bunch of young, unknowledgeable twits (some which don't even seem to speak proper english much less write it on a board) to judge a woman who has and will do more than they will ever dream of . . . I find it funny . =)
