In any basic intro to sociology you learn things aren't so literal.

It's not about numbers.

Wiki even has a list to expand on that if anyone has questions.

1. which is numerically smaller than the rest of population of the state or a part of the state
2. which is not in a dominant position
3. which has culture, language, religion, race etc. distinct from that of the majority of the population
4. whose members have a will to preserve their specificity
5. whose members are citizens of the state where they have the status of a minority.
6. which have a long-term presence on the territory where it has lived.

Only one is about numbers.

Of course you don't realize it because you're white (right?). It's so easy for y'all to overlook it and ignore it because it doesn't directly affect you. It's not oppressing you. No. In global politics. That's exactly how they secured their power in South Africa through oppression and imperialism. While they may be small in number, they were dominate in power. They controlled everything. It's the same as how whites make up the majority in the US and control the system while minorities don't. Once you have the power you have the ability to oppress to keep that power in tact.
