There's a difference between loving people of a certain race and actively denying and calling an entire race of people ugly and unattractive, as many gay men do. I personally love middle eastern men the most, but I would never deny a person of another race simply because they are that race.

Even if you've never been subject to malicious racism, you know that you are perceived as an outsider to the dominant culture. Even if you didn't want to care about race, race has been made important for you, personally.
