Roar is the chosen theme song of the Winter Olympics. I'd say that's more impactful than anything WFL has done. Plus it will sell more. Placements on the Hot 100 don't = impact, for all you twinks that are spewing out how many weeks at #1 they have. That's totally irrelevant.
It paved the way for EDM to be even remotely interesting, and artists and DJs have had tons of similar songs. First of all, Roar is a copy of another song's chord melody. Secondly, Roar may sound indie, but it's not like it was the first song on the chart to even sound like that. It's not an original song in any form, at least WFL was original and fresh and introduced a new wave of dance music.
