I agree with Katy Perry. With popstars that are always naked in every video and on
every single or album cover and on every magazine cover, one has to wonder
why, exactly they always choose to play that card. A distraction, perhaps?

I think if she connected it to a valid point such as using sex to sell it would have been better. But it almost seemed like she was just aimlessly talking about it. Why exactly is nudity bad anyway? We're all born naked. Instead she should just lead by example and play those other deck of cards that she claims to have.

She is the LAST person to criticize someone getting naked for attention

This thread. She really should just shut up though, people are quick to judge.

She still tried to downplay people who do it often, just because she does it less which is still hypocritical.
"I've stolen before, but I hate people who steal regularly"
"I've murdered before, but I hate serial killers"
"I've been to jail before, but I hate convicts"
Do you not see the contradictions in those?

She's right though.
She's not nude in all her songs, and she usually shows her boobs in a fun/flirty way, which is what her image is, as opposed to Rihanna's overtly sexy image.
I mean, take it with a grain of salt, but she's speaking the gospel truth. You do not always need to be sexy to sell.

We're talking about musicians tho, music should be the main attraction not your body, the fact that some girls are naked all the time and still struggling to sell records is really sad

Where's the sex in ET?
Some of the others are a bit of a reach too, Hot N Cold?

You all are acting like she's been completely naked and touching her parts in ALL of her videos or photoshoots.

You're not getting it. She looks like a hypocrite either way, sex appeal and "attractiveness" has carried her for a good portion of her career, if not half of it. Ddddd, is she not lying around in a short dress with other scantily clad women in IKAG? The whole song is sexually suggestive.
I don't see why it's so hard to get. She looks like a hypocrite and that's pretty much it.

I agree. Popstars should purposely manufacture their image, songs and performances to be suitable for pre-teen girls. Katy does this very well.

Why do you keep saying 'hate', she never once said she hates people that get naked
She didn't even really say it was a bad thing, just that she doesn't feel the need to do it all the time.

That's a good question, but before asking if I think it's important to recognize when nudity is being used artistically and tastefully, and when it is being used only for sex appeal.

Being hypocritical applies with ANYTHING though, including music.
"I hate people who try to change genres, even though my music has been different genres before".
Y'all would be quick to call an artist a hypocrite if they said that, but your stan glasses are on so tight you can't even notice with your own fave.
Embarassing

A lot of popstars show off a lot, it just comes with the whole sex appeal thing.

tbf. she did say that she's not judging and that she has used the "sexy card" and shown skin before. She was just saying that some people only seem to have the sexy naked card, whilst she's got a full deck and doesn't feel the need to always be naked to get attention.
i think she's on point completely. Not lies in her statement and no shade.
Personally, i don't really care if people want to be naked or clothed. If you look good, and your music is good... i'll take either or.
It's only "sad" when an artist relies on being nude because they don't have the talent to fall back on.

But she's not talking about using sex appeal, just being naked. Like, physically wearing a bra and panties. Not just being 'suggestive'
