New Adds to playlist (week ending 6/17)+Review of Paramore's Riot
New adds to playlist for this past week:
Social Distortion- "Far Behind" - Gotta love Social D. Great to hear somethign new from them. (The video is only a live version)
Sixx: AM- "Life Is Beautiful" - This band is a Nikki Sixx project (he is from Motley Crue if you didn't know). It's one of those songs I liked after hearing it only once.
Good Charlotte- "Dance Floor Anthem" - I finally started to like this song. However I feel that will wear off on me.
Citizens for A Better America- "Go Away Paris Hilton" - It's starting to get played on some rock stations. Not only is it funny, it's pretty good too.
Now that you have seen my new adds for the week, here is my review of Paramore's new album Riot! track by track...
1. "For A Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic" - [9.5/10] Quite possibly even more catchy than "Misery Business." This song was leaked a while back and I've loved it ever since I heard it the first time.
2. "That's What You Get" - [8.5/10] - Also very catchy. Definitely the pop-iest song on the album though.
3. "Hallelujah" - [10/10] - Any true Paramore fan knew this song long before this album because it was released as a b-side to their first album. This song is in competition for the best song on the album.
4. "Misery Business - [9/10] - The above song should have been the first single instead but still a great song and you know that since it retired on my countdown.
5. "When It Rains" - [4/10] - Worst song on album. One of the b-sides to the album, which are pretty good, should have taken it's place.
6. "Let The Flames Begin" - [9.9/10] - This song is full of emotion. Very powerful. I hvae a feeling the song might wear off on me so thats why I stopped short of giveing a 10.
7. "Miracle" - [7.5/10] - Catchy, nothing wrong with it but not as good as mostly everything else.
8. "Crushcrushcrush" - [10/10] - Also in competition for best song on the album. Sort of a darker song.
9. "We Are Broken" - [9/10] - Full of emotion and sadness too. Not my favorite but it deserves a 9 for being very good lyrically.
10. "Fences" - [11/10] - Yes thats an 11. It's a swing song believe it or not. Very interesting and very different from what they usually do. You have to love this song.
11. "Born For This" [9.5/10] - There was a contest run to have fans sing background on this song so those are the other voices you may hear. Also symbolizes Paramore's connection with their fans. Another great catchy song.
B-sides:
12. "Stop This Song (Lovesick Melody)" [9.5/10] - Should have replaced "When It Rains" on the album. It's another great song.
13. "Decoy" [10.5/10] - Should have replaced "Miracle" on the album. I love this song. It instantly became one of my favorite Paramore songs and it really should have been on the album.
There are other b-sides, but those have been released in the past so I won't include them.
Overall rating (not an average) - 9.7/10
And now a samle of a few favorites:
Crushcrushcrush
Fences
Hallelujah
And after reading all that go comment on my countdown updated yesterday.
MuteMath- "Typical" - You can blame Ryan's love for this song as the reason why I got into it. It's very cool stuff and very different.
Operator- "Soulcrusher" - The singer sounds a lot like Chris Cornell. Anyway just a great song. Could only get live video for it.
Because of only 2 adds, I'll include throwback video too...
Smashing Pumpkins- "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" - You are not allowed to not like this song.
Also check my countdown out for this past week and my previous blog post if you want to see my review of Paramore's new album.
Note: My countdown is updated today so you should look at it or something bad might happen to you
Here are the new adds to my playlist this week:
Cinder Road- "Get In Get Out" - Getting major spins on hard rock stations. I've heard it so many times that eventually I had to start liking it.
This is a live version and not exactly top notch quality.
+44- "155" - I really wasn't a big fan of +44 at all. But for some unknown reason, I can't seem to get this song out of my head.
The Starting Line- "Island (Float Away)" - Same reason as above. I actually hate The Starting Line but this song very catchy to me.
No video at all for this song so you can listen to someone else playing their song.
Black Light Burns- "Lie" - Heard it once and absolutely loved it. "Now I'm burning alive, just like you..." (Yes thats the lyrics I didn't actually mean that).
One day late but here are my new adds to my playlist this week:
Blaqk Audio- "Stiff Kittens"- An electronic side project...interesting. I like it at first listen but something tells me this will wear off on me.
Paramore- "For A Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic" - Technically every Paramore song is on my playlist. However if that wasn't true this would have been added now. One of the catiest songs on the album.
Within Temptation- "The Howling" - There has been no song in a long time that has struck me like this one. It has the most plays on my ipod this past week by far and has beaten Paramore's "Misery Business" for the most plays for the first time in 19 weeks. It may set my countdown debut record next week.
Tomorrow morning I'm heading on my family vacation to Las Vegas so therefore I will not be on ATRL till August 5 when I return. I will be on for at least another hour or two now but after that, I'm gone till August 5 so I need you all to behave when I'm gone lol
