'89 here, but I love the early 90s the best so I wish I was born in the early 80s to remember them, but I love it all.
There's overlap and exceptions, but IMO, Music Culture in the 90s breaks down to Three Era's:
1) The Dark Early Era (1988-1996)
Rave, Eurodance, House, Grunge, Trip-Hop, Remnants of New Jack/Golden Age Hip-Hop/R&B etc.
2) The Sentimental Mid Era (1992-1998)
Brit-pop, Soft-Rock, Alt/Indie/Punk/Ska, Babyface R&B, The Ballad Divas, a Ton of One-Hit Wonders
3) The Sensory Overdrive Late Era (1995-2003)
Internet Platforms, Contemporary R&B, Teen-Pop, Electronica, Disco-House, Trance, Big Beat, Rap Rock, Goth-Rock
