I give them coins when I rarely have some, since I use to carry my credit card in my wallet for almost everything.

The last time I saw a homeless person (or thought so) I offered money and he said NO but I know he wanted it because he was outside of Wawa for at least 20 minutes.

I remember this one time I rode my bike to McDonalds and I saw this homeless guy and he would always be at the bus stop and I had just got 2 chicken sandwiches I gave him one and put a dollar in the McDonalds bag

there are legit some "homeless" people that drive nice as$ cars. I think they are just trolling They can probably make like $50-$100 a day walking around on the highway

This reminds me... I saw one digging through a garbage downtown one day.
I had a full plate of Thai food and I wasn't gonna eat it, so I just gave it to the man.
I felt so bad for him.

I also once saw one of them dumpster diving and all he found was a yogurt cup with a balled up tissue inside of it. I was not going to let her eat that so I gave her 10 bucks...she snatched and walked away, hopefully she bought food

I give whatever I can at the time. I don't come across a lot of homeless people where I live though.

My nan on the other hand, she gets really snotty about it for whatever reason. She is convinced that every homeless person that asks for spare change is a rich person trying to trick people out of money. Every time I'm with her and we see one she gives off this huge speech about how they probably have a Corvette around the corner and a huge house to go home to.

A few weeks back her and I were driving to a family reunion in the city. We were stopped at a red light and I noticed these kids in the corner were throwing rocks off a bridge and then were laughing and started to run away. Then a homeless guy walked up through this path zipping up his pants (I assumed he was peeing) and shaking his head. My nan right away started going in about how he should go home to pee and what not. The light had turned green right as soon as we noticed him though so I didn't get a chance to give him any money or anything. I was just so shocked about how blind my nan was to that sort of stuff.

Ugh, that was a bit of an off-topic rant, sorry.

But yeah, I always interact with them and give what I can. Sure, I might risk being swindled for drug money but there's also a good chance that I just helped someone buy a loaf of bread to keep them going for a while. It's a risk I'm willing to take.

I was always told to buy them food but never give them money because they probably are using it for drugs. I offer to buy them food if they say they only want money that's their problem.

The money has been handed to the homeless person. It is no longer your business what they do with it, and it is patronising and offensive to assume that they are going to use it for drugs.

Also, you could support a stranger's addiction in that their life is terrible and it helps them block out the pain, or because giving them money could help prevent a crime of robbery, or because maybe your act of kindness will be the final straw that makes them want to commit to getting better.
