i stoped watching trl since they moved it to 3:30 its mtv's fault the show sucks they made poor choices for that show. For example why the hell at 3:30? At 3:30 people are still comming home from school. And they should also play better videos not the same overplayed **** for like 5 months until they "retire". Trl has sucked since 2004 its was just a matter of time before it got axed.
Mtv should all together get axed along with that show. I cant stand to watch mtv anymore its glory days are over. All the frigging dating shows are STUPID and unoriginal, anyone ever noticed when they show the same show all day long how every episode is all too similar? those shows are all scripted. The dating shows are only the tip of the iceberg. My super sweet sixteen? uhmmm wtf? I dont wanna see spoiled wannabe paris hilton's. I would much matter watch "normal" people's sweet sixteen. Most people dont get a frigging bently for their sixteen birthday. I can go on forever about much mtv and bet suck but ill end it here. Watch VH1.
It does not really affect me in any way, shape, or form whether TRL gets cancelled or not. It just sucks that something I've KNOWN ABOUT for almost 7 years is getting cancelled.
People could always find some other way to amuse themselves, I suppose
They get it from the cable company servers. I asked the guy who came and hooked up my DirectTV and he said well when someone turns to the channel they see it at their company building or some **** and then it reports to MTV and everytime someone turns the channel it loses that one viewer. Expensive **** he said.
ummmm he lied to you....... some houses are selected in your community by Nielsen Media....they give you this box that tells them what your watching...... I have it in my house......in other words i represent what my community is watching...my house represent 20k people i believe (not sure) ........ for give back by allowing them to have this in my house they give me free Gifts every month
well when i first started watching TRL in the spring of 99 it was on for 90 minutes a day at 3:30 pm. i think back in the precurser to TRL in the daily countdown show wise Dial MTV was on at either 3:30 or 4pm hosted by Adam Curry but then again it was just adam hosting with the whole video shown and no guests.
Great...if it gets cancelled...it means all our fights to retire a video means useless and nothing at all after all. That's it.If the decision is final...i don't care anymore if a video retires or not.All i care now is the songs' staying power on the Billboard charts.
Get real people, it has nothing to do with the timeslot.
The show being later wouldn't matter because honestly, the core audience of poeple currently watching TRL are people who have been watching since it first began and even though they realize it sucks now, they just can't "let go".
TRL to teens these days is probably one of the most un-cool things you could ever mention - because it's synonymous with the golden age of boy bands like Backstreet Boys and 98 Degrees and people these days look back on that era as a complete joke.
It has to do with the fact that the show has become so watered down that so many viewers have been turned away. You get about 20 seconds of a video and then back to the floor to see that nerd Damian ask Chad Michael Murray what he had for lunch that day.
The lame celebrity interviews that have taken over have killed the show - does anyone really care to see Ashlee Simpson go through the "ringer" so we can find out who her first kiss was or where she buys her shoes from!? OH, HOW SUSPENSEFUL! Those interviews are just so painfully pointless.
The countdown itself is a problem too - rock basically has no chance of ever showing up on the countdown, and for hip hop to get on, if you aren't Eminem, 50 Cent or Jay-Z, you're pretty much screwed. Other than that it's just a bunch of lame pop retreads that all look and sound exactly the same, so no fans can ever really get attatched to them and want to vote for them.
If TRL really wanted to get committed to showing videos - can TRL, can direct effect - bring back MTV Jams, put the Rock Countdown on MTV and then create a new countdown show for Pop music.. have a three hour block of those shows back-to-back, all top 10 countdown's voted by the fans, no stupid celebrity interviews.
Of course, that will never happen - we know what MTV is gonna do - cancel TRL and then put repeats of "Boiling Points" or "Next" in it's place.
MTV shd just keep TRL alive but focus on the Top 10 instead.and show the full video for the 10 videos. No more celebs dropping by pls....Just Music...urm..like the Best Of TRL 06 My List episode...no crazy lunatic screaming audiences...just 2 VJS and a whole lot of music.

Nah, I agree with this.

This is a bad idea to "refresh" TRL. It will even more flopped. SERIOUSLY.
No artist dropping by? LOL. Boring c/d it would be.
