I don't think it matters really. But of the perfume smells like flowers or something people are gonna look at you XD. Anyways I bet there are perfumes out there where if you switch the label to cologne then you probably wouldn't even notice
It just depends on the scent of the perfume.
At the end of the day, it's mostly just a marketing thing. I find a lot of women's perfumes to be perfectly fine for men to wear.
I see nothing wrong with it. I occasionally wear Heat and Fame. There are only a couple of perfumes that are too feminine for me. And honestly, when I wear them and people don't know that it's perfume instead of cologne, they can't really tell.
I'm a gay male, but I would never wear women's perfume. That's just a bit too much for me.
I currently wear Blue de Chanel, which is my favorite cologne. I'm about to buy a bottle of Gucci Guilty Black, it smells so great. L'Homme by YSL is also amazing.
