You're making an assumption based on a small minority here on ATRL. Just because there are many gay members here, it doesn't mean they represent gay views as a whole.

I'm gay, and I have many gay/lesbian/bisexual friends, and we all accept transgender people. There's gonna be gay people who dislike it. Just like there's probably people out there who hate racism towards themselves, but are willing to crack racist jokes. It's just simply a fact of life, everybody's different. Just because loads of people here are gay, it means nothing. The only thing we have in common is that we're gay, our views and ideologies are probably so different from person to person.

Edit: And to answer the OP's question, I think the people saying that it mainly stems from a desire to feel superior in size and/or social status kind of hit the nail on the head. I'm personally astonished and dismayed that any gay person could ever be transphobic; you'd think we'd all know better by now than to oppress others just 'cause they may be different. Discrimination against trans people from the gay community is just heinous.

i dont really know why you cant accept them, i have a lot of transgendered friends and i really like them. they're funny and one of the most wonderful people i have ever met. they're not different from anybody.

I don't have a problem with it . I find it awkward of course, but it doesn't disturb me to the point where I try to avoid them. I wouldn't have a problem having a trans friend.

I know, i was really insensitive and wrong for that post. But you post a hateful and racist post to critise me for being hateful. I don't think you're much better than me.

And i say again what i say was wrong because i don't have a transgendered friend. I used to think different thins about gay people too but after having actual gay friends i learned all of the things we hear were just prejudice and wrong.

From now on i will be more sensitive because when we talk without thinking we might hurt other people's feelings. I've learned that late but better late than never. And i do not think i deserve hate, either. You can't solve hate by being hateful.

Don't really care because it isn't my body. I love being my gender and couldn't imagine being anything else, but the case is different for different people. As long as the person has strong morals and values, then I don't care if she was born a he. We could be friends

I don't see why the 'T' needs to be part of LGBT. Which one of these things is not like the other? Transgendered is its own community, IMO. I think the fact that they are even linked together is a bit odd.
