I love Kelly Clarkson more and more everyday and I'm proud of her and her success.
To be fair to Clive though, "Because of You" is incredibly juvenile and amateur songwriting. It turned out to be a hit nonetheless so I'm glad she won out in the end.
Clive only likes people he can manipulate and mold into "his" vision of a star
he did dat with Whitney
But when a strong person like a Kelly Clarkson or dare I even say a Phyllis Hyman (look her up children) tries to go against him, he likes to make them pay. He tanked MD and to my Phyllis, he threw her away like yesterday's trash
He has always been money over artistry, commercial over integrity ...
Damn shame what happened to Phyllis. She was such a beautiful singer.
From what I've heard, Phyllis was going to be the original Whitney Houston, but she didn't want to sell out like that. Then Whitney came along and Clive simply said, "You're done here".

Yup jus like dat.
It wasn't like sellin out, more like u gonna do what I say or u will have no record contract. And in da end he lucked out and found Whitney. A talented but naive woman.
If Kelly isn't afraid for her career, then neither am I as a stan.
She was fine before, she'll be fine again. He's not in control of her label or career anymore.
I agree. It's Kelly's unwavering integrity that caused her to write this letter and it's that same unwavering integrity that caused her to garner such an extremely devoted fanbase who will buy her music in any way they can. She will be fine.
Except she was coming off a 6-mil+ selling album, so in retrospect, MD's numbers were still terrible.
Good for her standing up, but she sounds so aggressive and pressed in this.
Terrible numbers but still managed to stay relevant. Her talent, her power.
This showed Clive for what he truly is. No one is going to believe him over the American Idol darling that just wooed 99% of the industry with her tribute at the Grammys.

The drags, the chart receipts, the true tea and honest tales. Kelly is fearless She ain't scared of Clive.
Why should she? her biggest WW hit (BOY) was hated by Clive and her biggest US hit (WDKY) had no input by Clive. He did nothing for her.
Most KC fans know that Clive has been a thorn in her side since album 2. Having been at RCA when AIEW was being made, I got to see a lot of what labels try to do to certain artists in the writing/recording process and it's really a bit disheartening at times. I'm glad she said something about this here!
I cried after I played him a song I had written about my life called "Because Of You." I cried because he hated it and told me verbatim that I was a "sh*tty writer who should be grateful for the gifts that he bestows upon me."

Do your thing Kelly
He REALLY tried.. you could practically smell the desperation coming from him as he tried to stop Kelly's career, but even he couldn't keep the queen down for long... now she's back on top where she belongs

There was nothing naive about Whitney Houston so let's not go off topic.
This is about Kelly Clarkson not Phyllis Hyman or Whitney Houston
