Michael Jackson is the most famous person EVER (dead or alive, next to Jesus). Anyone that says otherwise is either too young or can't remember how famous he was (and still is). He was/is ****ing HUGE. His innovative fashion, choreography, vocal style, videos and music have and will create a dent in pop culture FOREVER.
while Jesus did exist, the infamous person you are referring to is a fictionalized fairytale version of the man named Jesus and I think the OP was only referring to real people.
Jesus of Nazareth was a real person, as was Saint Nicholas (known as Santa Claus).
His story, may in fact not be real, but that's a different topic.
Jesus, probably. Others include Hitler, Einstein, Caesar, Cleopatra, Christopher Columbus, Queen Elizabeth, and so on. Celebrities can't really touch historical figures/anomalies.
Do you guys really think history will remember Michael Jackson as much as it does for Charlemagne, Julius Caesar, Jesus, Queen Elizabeth, King Tut, etc?
