Pedro's Best Of 2011 [Top 100 Singles (90-71)]
Welcome to my Best Of 2011!
Hello! I know I'm a little late. Unfourtunately, when the "Best Of" time came on, I was very busy with my final exams and tests and I did not have time to finish it, actually I barely started it. Since I'm on my holidays and I have a lot of free time, I decided to do it now (with permition) and Vato (ATRL Moderator) will transfer the thread to the Best Of area once it opens again!
Doing this type of lists take time and a lot of work and dedication, I tried to be as fair as possible with myself.
Today I will be presenting to you my...
Favorite 100 Singles of last year! Here We Go!

Let's move on to music!
This is probably the most important category, it's really about the music that we are all here and a lot of great tunes were released last year. Believe me, do this Top 100 was so hard, I took more than a month to figure out which song was better, I really had a rough time and even now I'm not sure, I might change one or other while updating the best of! Anyway let's start with ten that almost made the top 100!
 | |
Willow Smith
21st Century Girl
21st Century Girl
Pop |
This song has so much swagger but this girl sounds like a 19 year old girl and she is like 10! It's so weird! Nevertheless, this swagger is just too great to snub it, really love it! Her voice will eventually change a lot soon! By the way, where the album at?
(One and only single from Willow Smith)
 | |
Maroon 5
Never Gonna Leave This Bed
Hands All Over
Pop Rock |
Jesus I was so undecided between this one, 21st Century Girl and the next one, but I think this is the right choice. It's a very slow song that was very unoticed by everyone, I think Moves Like Jagger saved Maroon 5, let's see if it'll save Christina. Anyway, I really like the slowness of the song, Adam's vocals are great!
(One out of three singles from Adam Levine/Maroon 5)
 | |
Melanie C
Weak
The Sea
Pop |
I love Melanie C and I didn't know she had an album out but thank god I did some research before put together this list because all the singles made the countdown. I love this one, the vibe it gives you and her amazing and unique voice, seriously, this woman is gifted. I wish she wasn't as underrated as she is!
(One out of four singles from Melanie C)
 | |
Jessie J
Price Tag (feat. B.o.B.)
Who You Are
Pop |
This was huge and it got overrated, that's why it's so low, got a little sick of it but not anymore, I think it's a great song that is very useful for the times we're living in, where people are so superficial and where everything that counts is money. Amazing job here Jessie!
(One out of four singles from Jessie J)
 | |
Jason Derülo
It Girl
Future History
R&B |
I have a thing for songs with whistles, jesus. This song is super cheesy and generic but those whistles got me, like always! Anyway, the lyrics are so stupid "means so much more than a grammy award"... gurl... anyway, keep on puting whistles on your song and I'll chart you.
(One and only single from Jason Derülo)
 | |
P!nk
****in' Perfect
Greatest Hits... So Far!!!
Pop |
This song is so sweet and since it's P!nk it becomes less cheesy, you know, we are in a place in music where you release a inspirational song and it becomes a success, I think they're a little overrated but well, it's P!nk, y'all! I wanted to chart this higher but thanks radios for overplaying it.
(One and only single from P!nk)
 | |
Avril Lavigne
What The Hell
Goodbye Lullaby
Pop |
Miss-Stay The Same! Avril didn't exactly deliver she basically launched a new "Girlfriend" and didn't end quite well, but well how things went til today at least she remained herself and didn't release Pop Dance songs, nevertheless she could've done Smile first!
(One out of three singles from Avril Lavigne)
 | |
Panic! At The Disco
The Ballad of Mona Lisa
Vice & Virtues
Rock |
Panic! also made their comeback this year, it could've gone better but well, I enjoyed their album and the new singles, this one is actually good for some listens but then gets a little boring believe. Besides they are not exactly what I listen to so it's kinda like fresh air to me, it is even better!
(One out of two singles from Panic! At The Disco)
 | |
Taylor Swift
The Story Of Us
Speak Now
Country |
Taylor has been growing and growing on me, actually like crazy! When I first met her she was automatically like a 7 but then dropped to a 6 and now she is like a 8/9, so good way. She is so cute and this cute songs help a lot too, I really like how she tells stories with her songs, she gives me a lot of images! Loves it!
(One out of three singles from Taylor Swift)
 | |
Doda
Bad Girls
The Seven Temptations
Pop |
Of course I'm not expecting, again, anyone to know the song but this is just so amazing, I wanted to chart her higher but the competition is not easy. I'm so glad she finally did something in english but too bad she didn't exactly release it in the states or internationally! Nevertheless it's an amazing song!
(One out of two singles from Doda)
 | |
Glee Cast
Loser Like Me
Glee: The Music, Volume 5
Pop |
Their original songs are so amazing, too bad they are a little generic and become old faster than anything, but they are worth to chart eventhough no-original songs are charting too. I seriously love this one, Lea sounds so good!
(One out of four singles from Glee Cast)
 | |
Adele
Set Fire To The Rain
21
Pop |
Dearies, don't expect Adele to chart higher, TV, people and radio made me find her overrated, although I have a lot of respect for her and love her. This song is actually very powerful and totally gives her that diva power, she is great, I can see why she grabbed the public attention.
(One out of two singles from Adele)
 | |
Doda
XXX
7 Pokus Głównych
Pop |
And here we find Doda again, this one is so epic, seriously. Yes, I don't understand any part of the song but the X X X, but I don't know the way the song is built, the fierceness, her vocals, goodness! Slay the hell out of me! I wish people would actually listen to this!
(Two out of two singles from Doda)
 | |
Bruno Mars
The Lazy Song
Doo-Wops & Hooligans
Pop |
Bruno is a little in Adele's bag, a little overrated, but can do some nice songs, like this, that is like his second best song (after Count On Me). But I identify a lot with him because I also like to write about this kind of stuff he does!
(Two out of two singles from Bruno Mars)
 | |
Enrique Iglesias
Dirty Dancer (feat. Usher)
Euphoria
Pop |
When the album came out this was my favorite and I always wanted it to be a single, but well it took away too long, and this is the version WITHOUT Lil' Wayne, not here for him. The song is very catchy and very sexy! Enrique's "C'mon"
(One and only single from Enrique Iglesias // One out of two singles from Usher)
 | |
Jojo
Disaster
Disaster
Pop |
This song is very Jojo, very that style she has used us to, that Pop song with lot of anger about a guy and with a very catchy chorus. I think she did a good job, but took way too long to release new music, and people forgot about her.
(One and only single from Jojo)
 | |
Selena Gomez & The Scene
Who Says
When the Sun Goes Down
Pop |
Well another cheesy song but Selena's voice is so cute to listen to and she sounds so sweet and comprehensive here, I really had to chart this eventhough her two next appearances are going to take a BIG WHILE to show up. So cute, seriously!
(One out of three singles from Selena Gomez & The Scene)
 | |
Lady Gaga
Yoü and I
Born This Way
Pop |
It took me a big while to get used to this song and actually appreciate it but now I really like it, it became lovely and very different from what she usually records, but seriously I used to dislike it so much, thank god I changed my mind. It has a rockish/country vibe attached to it.
(One out of five singles from Lady Gaga)
 | |
Aurea
The Only Thing That I Wanted
Aurea
Pop |
I'm not expecting anyone to know this as well, this is the only song made by a portuguese artist you'll see in my countdown (next year, one might be in too). She reminds me a mix of Amy Winehouse and Duffy which is good, this song reminds me a lot of "Warwick Avenue", a song I love. It's so cute and so sincere.
(One and only single from Aurea)
 | |
Eric Saade
Hearts In The Air (feat. J-Son)
Saade, Vol. 1
Pop |
This dude makes songs that are like super Pop. Those girly songs, very happy and stuff but I can't help it and love them. I met this guy like in 2008 and since then I've been paying some attention to his moves, you should do the same, it's pretty nice to listen, so catchy!
(One out of three singles from Eric Saade //One and only single from J-Son)

Pedro's Best Of 2011 [Top 100 Singles (70-51)]
Welcome to my Best Of 2011!

Anyway let's start with ten that almost made the top 100!
 | |
Glee Cast
Light Up The World
Glee: The Music, Volume 6
Pop |
One more original song from Glee, but this time way better! They make this catchy and happy songs and I fall in love eachtime I hear them, I think they did a great thing by releasing ORIGINAL songs, let's hope they actually keep on doing it!
(Two out of four singles from Glee Cast)
 | |
Eric Saade
Still Loving It
Saade, Vol 1
Pop |
Eric's second appearance. I love this song, and it reminds me something Timberlake would do, but Eric did better, of course =P It has this sad vibe attached to it, but it can be super catchy at the same time.
(Two out of three singles from Eric Saade)
 | |
Britney Spears
Till The World Ends (feat Nicki Minaj & Ke$ha)
Femme Fatale
Pop |
Ok, blame this on Ke$ha. This remix could've been epic if it was only about Britney and Nicki, her voice kinda annoys me on the track, but well Britney has much more to go, so it's ok for her to be "this low".
(One out of six singles from Britney Spears // One out of four singles from Nicki Minaj // One out of two singles from Ke$ha)
 | |
Rihanna
Man Down
Loud
Reggae fusion |
This actually grew a lot on me. I used to say "this is Rihanna at her worst" or "Worst Loud track", something like that, but now I find it flawless, I guess seeing it live helped a lot, and the video was epic. Besides the lyrics tell a story and it's not everyday that you have Rihanna singing lyrics with substance!
(One out of seven singles from Rihanna)
 | |
Coldplay
Paradise
Mylo Xyloto
Rock |
Here's Coldplay only appearance on this chart. Not like I dislike them, I find them an amazing band, but their songs don't always catch my attention, next best of they'll chart with Rihanna, though! I really enjoy this song, its instrumental is lovely and the story of the song, really cool!
(One and only single from Coldplay)
 | |
Jessie J
Nobody's Perfect
Who You Are
Pop |
This was a grower as well, when I first heard it I wasn't very interested in Jessie, but then I heard it carefully and I feel just too much emotion coming from this song, like she is really feeling what she is saying, that's so amazing when you can feel those type of emotions in a song. Amazing job!
(Two out of four singles from Jessie J)
 | |
Avril Lavigne
Wish You Were Here
Goodbye Lullaby
Pop |
This is so typical Avril, but this is GOOD Avril, what she does better. This kind of slow songs and not those Pop catchy songs with no meaning that make her look like a 15 year girl. This song might get boring after a while but the verses and her vocals on it are so amazing.
(Two out of three singles from Avril Lavigne)
 | |
Gym Class Heroes
Stereo Hearts (feat. Adam Levine)
The Papercut Chronicles II
Alternative Hip Hop |
GCH are back with Adam and with a very catchy and radio-friendly song. They got it right, this is so what's in right now and Maroon 5 totally got advantage of it and released a very similar song named Payphone, and got lucky again. Adam makes this song, I guess.
(One and only single from Gym Class Heroes // Two out of three singles from Adam Levine/Maroon 5)
 | |
Avril Lavigne
Smile
Goodbye Lullaby
Pop |
This is so Avril at her best, the one she has used us to, this is not like What The Hell, it's a song about you know, being crazy but Avril crazy, a badass, like Complicated! The chorus of this song is so catchy and cool!
(Three out of three singles from Avril Lavigne)
 | |
David Guetta
Without You (feat. Usher)
Nothing But the Beat
Dance |
Of course Usher is the song. I really like the dancy and sad vibe of this song, how it gets mixed in the song. Usher sounds great and when you listen it in the disco it just feels so right...
(One out of two singles from David Guetta // Two out of two singles from Usher)
 | |
David Guetta
Where Them Girls At (feat Flo Rida & Nicki Minaj)
Nothing But the Beat
Dance |
We remain with David Guetta, eventhough here is Nicki who makes the entire song. Her parts are so epic, that badass rap and that "day day day day" . This song was actually the one that started to get me into Nicki, thank you Guetta! Two Years ago I renewed my license!
(Two out of two singles from David Guetta // One and only single from Flo Rida // Two out of four singles from Nicki Minaj)
 | |
Evanescence
What You Want
Evanescence
Rock |
I was so damn excited about Evanescence's big comeback, they always deliver, not like they didn't this time but just failed to fill all the expectatives for it. It's a badass song and it really fits them, I love the energy of the song! Amy vocals are flawless as usual!
(One and only single from Evanescence)
 | |
Lady Gaga
Born This Way
Born This Way
Pop |
Lady Gaga kinda failed to deliver as usual, I don't think this is an amazing single, it's very catchy and really sounds like "Express Yourself" by Madonna, but you know it works and it sticks in your head and as has a cute message. I remember when it came out it gave me chills due to the message!
(Two out of five singles from Lady Gaga)
 | |
Nicki Minaj
Fly (feat. Rihanna)
Pink Friday
Hip Hop |
First Nicki own appearance, but she brings Rihanna with her. I love this song, it's inspirational and so easy to listen, Rihanna's collaborations with rappers always turn out amazing, how she does those falsettos, just lovely to listen to. Nicki sounds fierce!
(Three out of four singles from Nicki Minaj // Two out of seven singles from Rihanna)
 | |
Panic! At The Disco
Ready To Go
Vices & Virtues
Pop Rock |
I completely love the vibe of this great song! It has this happy vibe on it and fun. This is more the kind of Panic! I appreciate, I think it really suits them and the Brandon Urie falsettos also are amazing. The instrumental is mixed with those mysterious noises which is cool too.
(Two out of two singles from Panic! At The Disco)
 | |
Jessie J
Who's Laughing Now
Who You Are
Pop |
This was my open eyes to love Jessie, this song has so much attitud on it, it's so fierce and so real, she is also feeling it while she sings it, I seriously love how Jessie really knows how to express herself, she is an amazing singer! Great job and thanks for sharing this with us Jessie!
(Three out of four singles from Jessie J)
 | |
Taylor Swift
Ours
Speak Now
Country |
I remember I was in my PC and my sister was watching some channel where this song was on and I found the melody and the feeling so sweet and since then I fell in love with it. That chorus is completely marevelous and makes me love Taylor so much, it just makes me stop and think and sing along, beautiful!
(Two out of three singles from Taylor Swift)
 | |
Nicole Scherzinger
Right There (feat. 50 Cent)
Killer Lover
Pop |
This sounds like Rihanna's "What's My Name" but it is just too sexy and too soft, you know, the feeling it expresses. I really appreciate the way Nicole sings here it's just very relaxing for real. This is a very hot song, and I'm not counting 50 on it.
(One out of four singles from Nicole Scherzinger // One and only single from 50 Cent)
 | |
Adele
Someone Like You
21
Pop |
I'm a monster for puting this song "so low", but radios and tv really overplayed it, I still love it but I'm also in a place where I heart all the songs, this song was very special, because you know, it is just so sentimental it makes you really think about things and have hope "someone like" whoever you want appears.
(Two out of two singles from Adele)
 | |
Maja Keuc
No One
No One
Pop |
Maja was a contestant in Eurovision Song Contest last year, and she slayed it, she was my second favorite, almost first, the first is two places from her in this countdown. She was representing Slovenia, and seriously this is one of the best songs I've ever heard in ESC. Her voice reminds me Christina's less hysterical.
(One and only single from Maja Keuc)

Pedro's Best Of 2011 [Top 100 Singles (50-31)]
Welcome to my Best Of 2011!

Anyway let's start with ten that almost made the top 100!
 | |
Cobra Starship
You Make Me Feel... (feat. Sabi)
Night Shades
Pop |
I've always liked Cobra Starship, but I think I liked them better before, they went from this rockish and electronic music to this Pop-Dance. Well apparantely is working right for them but I don't know, their past work was also great. I love how it was thanks to Britney, Sabi was in this song. It has a very catchy rhythm and the "la la la" songs are always easy to stick in, right? I love Sabi's part!
(One and only single from Cobra Starship and Sabi)
 | |
Eric Saade
Popular
Saade, Vol.1
Pop |
Here's Eric's final entry, remember when I said Maja's was my second fave out of the ESC 2011? This was actually my favorite, you know the lyrics of the song are very cheesy and the song itself ain't nothing impressive but it's quite catchy and it works. Besides his performance was super amazing!
(Three out of three singles from Eric Saade)
 | |
Glee Cast
Landslide
Glee: The Music, Volume 6
Pop |
Now we are in the cover area from Glee, but seriously this one turned out so beautiful and great, the vocals, the simplicity, everything is very beautiful. By the way it had Brittany and Santana, two of my faves and it was about their sexuality so it is very cool.
(Three out of four singles from Glee Cast)
 | |
Melanie C
Let There Be Love
The Sea
Pop |
This is weird! When I made like a first time organisation of the countdown this was very high, then when I re-done it it was like out of the top 100, and now it's here! I think this is the fair place eventhough this song is completely beautiful. It has this sentence: "Sometimes you can live your whole life in just a single day", that touches me, it's so beautiful to say, this song is really for the loved ones, beautiful!
(Two out of four singles from Melanie C)
 | |
Rihanna
Cheers (Drink to That)
Loud
Pop |
This is such a grower, but I still HATE those Avril "Hey Hey", I like it in the original song, not here, it is annoying and unecessary. Anyway, I like that this song is a little different eventhough I like sober Rihanna better. Her vocals sound cool and relaxed, and the song transmit that to you, which is cool!
(Three out of seven singles from Rihanna)
 | |
Ke$ha
Blow
Cannibal
Pop |
Already in top 50 we find Ke$ha. I love this song eventhough it's one of my least favorite from "Cannibal", that EP is epic. It's very catchy and great to listen in the disco, I remember some people said "Till The World Ends" sounded like it, what?! The only thing in common are the "Oooh" and still...
(One and only single from Ke$ha)
 | |
Rihanna
California King Bed
Loud
Pop |
If I had done this countdown in 2011, this would be higher, but you know it got old, eventhough her vocals are completely flawless and the emotion of the song touches you in a very deep way. I really identify myself with this song because everyone that I think I could be with live far from me, not outside my country but just far, so it's a little personal.
(Four out of seven singles from Rihanna)
 | |
Melanie C
Think About It
The Sea
Pop |
This Melanie C's pop song, very dancy and very what's in right now, can't believe she is so underrated, I really think this could have been huge if it had a chance. It's very catchy, very fresh and very happy a great combination! "Only regret the things you don't do".
(Three out of four singles from Melanie C)
 | |
Black Eyed Peas
Just Can't Get Enough
The Beginning
Pop |
When I first this song I couldn't believe it was from Black Eyed Peas, never expected this song to be in any of their album, it has those Will I Am beats but Fergie's vocals are so epic and beautiful, I think a slower tune did good for them.
(Two out of two singles from Black Eyed Peas)
 | |
Glee Cast
I Feel Pretty / Unpretty
Glee: The Music, Volume 6
Pop |
And this is Glee's last entry, and we end it up with one of their best songs, it's a cover but it's so beautiful, the sad melody, the sad feeling attached to the song, it's flawless. Lea Michelle has that tendency to feel the song in an exaggerated way but it's great.
(Four out of four singles from Glee Cast)
 | |
Melanie C
Rock Me
The Sea
Pop |
I can't believe Melanie C delivered such a sexy song like this one, she explored that sexiness in her and it turned out great. Her voice can really work in that sexy way, this song is also extremely catchy and very different from everything she has done, that's why I love it so much!
(Four out of four singles from Melanie C)
 | |
Leona Lewis
Collide (feat. Avicii)
Glassheart
Pop |
Leona Lewis delivering a very different track from her repertoire as well. I love it, it's so summerish, so fresh and so happy. I really love Leona's uptempo songs and I didn't exactly get whatever happened with Avicii that wasn't included but then he was, what the hell? Anyway, of course her vocals slay me.
(One and only single from Leona Lewis and Avicii)
 | |
Beyoncé
Dance For You
4
R&B |
I didn't exactly LOVE this song until not long ago, I found how sexy it was and how classy she was in the video/song, it's such a great song to make love to, I never heard while having anything but I can imagine, its R&B vibe makes it slower and sexier, jesus. Epic!
(Two out of eight singles from Beyoncé)
 | |
Nicole Scherzinger
Try With Me
Killer Love
Pop |
Like the song before, I didn't exactly like this song that much, but someone special to me, posted it on Facebook and since then I started appreciating the song and found its true beauty, it's so beautiful, so pure and cute. I like how Nicole mixes that "almost ballad" type with a Pop Dance beat, a little like what she did with "Don't Hold Your Breath" that is way higher.
(Two out of four singles from Nicole Scherzinger)
 | |
Jessie J
Domino
Who You Are
Pop |
Such a great dance song, it's so generic I don't even have words, but it stills sound so fresh, and her vocals are so impressive seriously, she is an amazing vocalist. What makes me love this song too, is the very happy vibe attached to it, so cute!
(Four out of four singles from Jessie J)
 | |
Nicki Minaj
Super Bass
Pink Friday
Pop-Hip Hop |
Now this got all my attention to Nicki Minaj, very catchy, very happy and of course very dirty, wouldn't be Nicki. It is also fresh to me since my main style are performers/vocalists that actually sing and don't rap so it is great to "Rap" with Nicki!
(Four out of four singles from Nicki Minaj)
 | |
Taylor Swift
Mean
Speak Now
Country |
Taylor got me with this one! It's so cute, great and epic! Super catchy and super "oh my goodness" ahaha, you know what I mean? I really love the lyrics and this is a song about empowering but it's not the typical pop sad song about it, so it's even cooler!

When the album came out and I heard it this was, for me, a filler, it was uninteresting, boring! But then something plimped and I started to worship it, it's so badass to the person who loses, it's so epic, seriously, and her vocals slay my life. The lyrics are really great and original!

Such an unexpected hit single! I really like the fun vibe of the song, the lyrics are very cheesy and the song ain't nothing impressive but the WHISTLES, once again, the fun vibe as I said, and the way it makes you wanna dance made it huge! It'll be eventually forgotten but it was a great song! It revived Maroon 5's career and I hope it did something similar to Christina.

This song deserved to be much bigger, it flopped so hard and I don't know why, it is so cool and so, I don't know, it just has something extra that gets your attention, it's a typical Gaga song with the "ma Ma Ma" and stuff but I guess people don't want this type of songs anymore... Nevertheless amazing job here!

I just don't understand how Domino could be that far ahead of Price Tag, but even so, it doesn't bother me too much.
