No the drive was completely replaced, that is what took so long. Rather than potentially risk losing data, once the disk was identified as being faulty I made the decision to copy the latest backups from the server, and then down the server and begin the recovery process. Since we dont have load balancing servers here, when our server goes down the site goes down. I had been noticing the degradation of the drive for some time, but all checks were running fine until yesterday. So now the drive should be running much better and shouldn't have any negative effect on the site.
