We know that 2011 was a relatively weak year in film; however, 2012 looks significantly more promising. And so, I bring you the top 5 films I am looking forward to this year.
5) Snow White and the Huntsman
(Kristen Stewart; Chris Hemsworth)

A bad ass, jagged, intense and modern day twist on the classic fairytale. The reason I'm really excited for this is because Snow White is one of my least favorite fairy tales of all time. Snow White is the epitome of a naive and useless female, but this new twist shows something different. It shows a strong heroine and a darker and more complex story than the one we're used to.
4) The Avengers
(Chris Evans; Robert Downey Jr.)

Hawkeye, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor...
An epic combination of some of Marvel's best comic book characters in this new journey to rescue the earth from extraterrestrial invaders.
I'm someone who already is a sucker for superhero films, so imagine how excited I am for this upcoming one.
3) Underworld Awakening
(Kate Beckinsale; India Eisley)

Vampires. Lycanthropes. War. Three of my favorite story elements in one dark, intense and exciting film. Fans of the first film should definitely look out for this one. I think it's going to be pretty great.
2) The Dark Knight Rises
(Christian Bale; Gary Oldman)

The thrilling conclusion to the legendary film The Dark Knight. Like I said before, I love superheroes, and it doesn't hurt when Christian Bale plays the leading one.
The last film was so suspenseful and brilliantly directed that I absolutely cannot wait for this next film.
1) The Hunger Games
(Jennifer Lawrence; Josh Hutcherson)

Based on the dystopian bestselling YA novel by Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games will combine human obsessions for reality TV and violence as this futuristic world hosts the annual Hunger Games where a young boy and girl from each district must be sent into an arena to fight to the death.
The entire series is a jarring story about war, a corrupt government, love, hatred, death, and ignorance. And it's a truly captivating story that I think will pan out brilliantly on screen.
I am one who is a very avid fan of the book series, so this film is definitely something I'm really looking forward to in 2012.
