Which is also the reason why they get feature credits.

Their songs dont require vocals on them to begin with!

Most songs Will.I.Am/The Dream work on actually have more than 10 lines of lyric.

Where as the music Harris/Guetta make is mostly instrumental.

but when you lend your production to an artist, you're not acting as an artist, you're acting as a producer....when they release solo work, they accompany their own productions with their own vocals and that is when they act a an artist/producer

So a song with a ton of lyrics and not much production should be credited to the writer as a feature??You and I know that are plenty of songs out there where the production is the highlight of the whole song but again, producers don't ask for the features.

The difference is NO OTHER producer on the album is a DJ/ARTIST. None of the other producers on the album can sell out an arena to just throw a dance party.

When a dance artist contributes to a pop song, they are acting in their capacity as a solo dance artist. NOT a producer like Dr. Luke. Calvin lent his expertise in electronic music to a Rihanna track as a guest. That's why he is well within reason to request a credit. That's just how dance music goes, really. I mean, there is even an instrumental track on David Guetta's album that has a feat. Afrojack credit.
