It's not about creating super deep songs about saving Africa or fighting illiteracy or taking 5 year breaks between albums, it has everything to do with artistry & actually thinking out the albums instead of just making a CD with a collection of single-ready songs. You can't be an effective artist when camps of 50 people are doing the work for you.

On top of that, the writer of the article can't say that EVERYONE from Janet's prime was "super deep" & ~unrushed, trying to get their 15 minutes in. The same applies to today There will be artists that will stand the test of time and will be used as an example of how much "music of 2011 was so much better than music is today in 2021" while the rest that litter the Hot 100 will be forgotten. & I'm glad my fave understands this.

That's what you seemed to be implying which is why I asked if that was your intention. I said Rihanna works hard just like any other human being that wants to make a living and you said well regular hard working human beings have breakdowns too......Im well aware of the music industry but no MOST celebrities DON't have breakdowns. Just because there are some who the media has chosen to sensationalize (Britney) doesn't mean that that may be the fate of others like Rihanna and you as a Beyonce stan should know that celebrities are more than capable of withstanding the pressures of the media and the music industry.

Britney wasnt the first or last celeb to have a break down. Her fall from grace was massive and the public couldnt get enough of it.

Beyonce is a rare breed. She keeps her private life PRIVATE unlike other celebs that expose everything on twitter. Also Beyonce is in control of her career not some record label executive. Therefore she doesnt have to get permission to take a break or pump out albums every year.

You think Rihanna couldn't take a break if that's what she wanted? I'm sorry was I bragging or was I just using it as evidence to show that obviously she is who she is and her record label isn't forcing her to be something different like some other pop stars who have gone on to have breakdowns. Celebrities and breakdowns is what this argument is about right??...anyways If she wants to continue making music at a rapid rate so be it after all she is responsible for her own health and she's more than capable of making that decision on her own.

Well, it's not really a question of artists lacking depth, it's more of question if the audience wants something with depth. Just looking these boards, not too many people care about songs that make you feel and think. It's all about "I want it and I want it now" with today's audience. So if artists have to cut creativity and substance out of their work because the audience wants it asap, so be it. Of course there are those artist who throw **** out there so they'll stay relevant, but this is more on the audience.
