What kind of grades are you getting? Where do you need help specifically?
-Basic grammar rules are a must; you can get by with a few mistakes but a paper riddled with them blurs any good argument you might be making.
-Make an argument! Nearly all essays are argumentative or at the very least carry argumentative qualities. Know the point you are trying to prove and argue it successfully through several citations and qualifiers. If you're trying to argue that Obama is a great president, for instance, you cannot just say that he is a great president. You have to find reasons and proof that stack up in favor of your answer/argument.
-Finally, structure your paper! Don't just throw your arguments around, section them off into paragraphs! Each point that you make in an effort to feed into the overall argument deserves its own section and treatment.
Remember, every sentence has to have meaning and must be directly related to your argument! If you start to bullsh*t to extend the paper, it will only weaken the strength of your argument and your paper. Make every word count!
