No, Rihanna didn't do it her debut week, it didn't count towards soundscan Like Gaga willand it was on Black Friday. Along with other releases being discounted too.

From bottom of my heart, with no shade, all the shenanigans made her label and Amazon are taking the merit of the album sales. It's seems like it's more a maketing and sales scheme than a actual whanted album. I wouldn't ne proud of the numbers at all. :-/

The truth in the matter is that if your favorite pop star had this promotion and was projected to sell near 1 million albums in the first week, you'd all be acting like it was the second coming of Jesus.

It was inevitable that around here Gaga would never be a winner. It's either that she has too much promotion, or she didn't move enough units. Since when is it bad to get a lot of promo, and innovative promo at that? She is not forcing people to buy this album. I could see if this album was predicted to underperform with all the hype, but she slaughtering the competition worldwide and during a dark period for the music industry.

that's called brilliant, smart promo. Gaga's marketing team should be complimented for everything they have done with this album and other labels should take notes

That was Katy's type of promo. Gaga's is a hell of a lot more creative. Who else would do their own farmville version, a Google Chrome commercial, and stream their album to the UK and US public?
