We all know that if Beyonce' doesnt like another artist all she has to do is release a record in the same week as them and watch their fans abandon them. Which is why Beyonce never released the same week as Rihanna.
She does this all with grace and this is why people love her, she is not threatening, you know that Beyonce' will never be overtly sexual or vulgar in her lyrics, she doesnt play it safe, but she is safe, little kids can watch her without being polluted, teenage girls can watch her and admire her work, teenage boys can watch her and can admire her work and some of other other assets, grown men and women can watch her and say "she reminds me of Tina Turner" and smile at the thought.
She is a legend, her sales prove it, her fans prove it, her commercial success proves it and she is so mulitalented that many wonder if she is actually humans.
Beyonce' is an icon and the risks she takes creatively make her better and better with every project. if you're a Beyonce' hater (or undercover fan) run away now, she has another promotional campaign coming and like all the others it is going to dominate the entire media.
Rihanna.. well she's got along way to go.

The icons of genertation 2 are Beyonce, Usher, Britney, Justin and Christina who grew up listening to Generation 1 who are Janet Jackson, Madonna, Prince, Michael Jackson, Cyndi Lauper and the impact that Generation 1 had on Generation 2 can be seen in 2.5 with artists like Chris Brown, Neyo, Rihanna, The Jonas Brothers, Ciara and the like.
Part of the reason so many new urban pop artists are compared to Beyonce is because she is the Urban Pop model, if you want to be a succesful urban pop artist then follow Beyonces formula, a European look, the right mix of urban and pop and if you can, talent (which very few of generation 2.5 have)
Beyonce is now a brand and when people say her name they are not just talking about the woman, they are talking about the voice, the look, the influences, the persona, the relationship, the glamour.
That is why Beyonce' has such a big influence on popular culture.
But take away Beyonce's marketing and beauty and commercial appeal and whats left- raw talent that over the years has been groomed, polished and refined to make her the most succesful Urban Pop artist of all time.
