I'm a black LGBTQ member of society. As you are a gay male. Yes we have our own struggles with inequality but that doesn't mean we don't hold on to often times implicit biases regarding other minorities in society so to speak.
Me being a minority myself doesnt stop me from being a MAN, thus a member of a dominant group in society. YES, I like many other men in the LGBTQ community still hold on to sexist and misogynistic views regarding women.
And yes you're a gay white male but that doesn't stop you from holding onto sexist and racist views of other members in society.
We are all part of the system whether we want to admit it or not and just by virtue of being born as we are will experience life differently, this often times shapes our views of those who we consider 'out-groups'
|
So no matter how much I want women to win and minorities to win, I sill somehow hold racist and sexist views. Ok. Well what are those sexist and misogynistic views you still hold regarding women ?
EDIT : And girl enough already, if I tell you my first thought when I see a black person during the night isn't they're going to rob me or cut my throat then it's not

Racism is actively discriminating against people based on their race. Very few people in Western society do that anymore. It's mainly only white supremacists and SJWs (and a few policemen) who still discriminate on people based on their race.
It's true that people automatically form more positive opinions of people with lighter skin than darker skin, but this isn't only the case with white people. Even black children living in sub-Saharan Africa who have never met a white person before have been found to automatically have more positive views of people with lighter skin. It's seems to be a universal human trait, even in humans who themselves have very dark skin.
|
Because of the lasting effects of white supremacy, the world over. The closer you are to white, the more value you have as a human being. This is obviously wrong, but it is a fact that holds true because of how society is set up to benefit whites only.

And this is what we call color-blind racism. A sociological concept describing the actions of those who would rather deny their racist and prejudice views than have a constructive and honest conversation regarding race and the way it plays into society.
If you're not ready to discuss racism honestly then I didn't see how we can ever get somewhere to better race relations. Closing you're eyes and pretending racism doesn't exist and is a thing of the past is the EXACT problem one constantly runs into when discussing racism with white people.

It's mostly things that are subtle and often go unstated, like with racism.

Sis, it's really not that deep.
Why do Europeans have such a taboo relationship with social justice? Y'all act like discussing these things is too troublesome and controversial or defaming - y'all literally pass laws that classifies using these words as 'defamation". Y'all complain about American individualism in SJWs yet the idea that y'all could be members of privileged groups has y'all shook.
It's even just little things like being indifferent to sexism or if a woman is ****-shamed or you see a woman act a certain way, whether sexually or conservatively, and you have a subconscious knee-jerk reaction to judge her. If you stop yourself, good, but that's you still combatting your subconscious sexism.

What ?
I'm constantly discussing them here I don't think they're taboo at all. What words ?
I'm not indifferent to sexism. And what should I stop myself from ? I let people act as they wish, you can be a virgin until the rest of your life or hooking up every day of the week, like I care

But it's not about action, it's about thought.
Combatting sexism isn't going:
"Oh I think a woman who sleeps with 5 men a night is a *****, but I don't bother her"
Combatting sexism is questioning and tackling and self-reflection on why you have a negative view about who or how many people a woman sleeps with.

BUT I DON'T It's clear as day how the double standards between men and women on this is wrong, and I never shared it because I have a functioning brain

Example - two applications for a job, both the same qualifications and everything. But one wash called Jane, and the other Tanisha. Jane is more likely to get the job than Tanisha.
Example - Daycare. People are more likely to leave their kids with a woman than they are with a man
I think of more, but I'm lazy.
These things are subtle, no one is saying it makes people bad for thinking these things. Just that we need to be more aware of those thoughts, so that they don't happen. Sweeping it under the rug helps no one.

This is false. Capitalism only cares about one colour. Green. The most productive person will be the most successful. Capitalism doesn't care if you're black, white, blue or purple. If you are the best person for the job, you get the job.
To say politicians work for white interests is a cop out too. Where is the proof? What about affirmative action programmes? How about the fact that despite a black kid and an Asian kid coming from the exact same economic background, the black kid gets 230 pts added to his college admission application, while the Asian kid has 30 pts deducted?
I don't think raising the police issue will benefit either of us on this forum, so I won't. But I will say this... The vast majority of police officers work to keep both of our countries safe. They don't care what race criminals are, they just want to put them behind bars.

So basically your insisting I have these thoughts? Dude, I'm not denying there are racist individuals but not all white people are racist. I keep telling you I'm not, I never had this white supremacy thing pumped into my head which if I go by communions words is a thing in America. Stop putting that on me, I don't grab my bag when I see black people and I certainly don't change lanes. You've basically made up your mind that I'm racist and wont accept the contrary. There is no room for discussion here, you already eliminated a need for it by prematurely drawing a conclusion. How do you not see this

But there's tons of people that do not have those thoughts, like honestly. Like what makes a woman inherently better to look after kids ? Nothing.
Why Jane should get the job over Tanisha ? There's 0 reason.
And there's a lot of people who can actually see it, honestly.

But isn't that daycare example sexist towards men? He works at a daycare but he wasn't hired because his penis made him unsuitable to care for a child. How did he benefit from the so called patriarchy, using your own example. He suffered financially if anything

I've never seen someone wanna not see racial inequality so much, even when it's right in their face.
British police even disproportionately stop black men, which is confusing af, cause y'all backward ass country is only 3% black.

Hmm. But even minorities tend to conform to white societal standards. See the girl choosing the white doll video. Clearly, there's a cultural bias that uplifts things relating to white.
