Flopping =/= "Ignoring" the mainstream. And ya'll literally justified ARTPOP's floppage for the same reason (Going against maintream, too experimental etc) though....
Yes because her mostly homosexual fan base who are currently the only people buying her music love stripped down country. That's why a Lady Gaga stan is almost always a Toby Keith stan as well. This is VERY safe.
Lol nobody gives a damn what a Lady GaGa stan likes. Your likes or dislikes are not the measure for determining the riskiness of an action. Again, WHAT is risky about a white girl in a cowboy hat plucking a guitar? It's risky because you don't like it? Go take a nap.

I don't know what you're trying to say...? The stuff we have heard from Joanne so far clearly IS ignoring the mainstream.
She's playing it incredibly safe because (1) she has a boatload of super-acclaimed collaborators, and (2) the music and visuals are simple, appealing, back-to-basic, MOR fare.
But she's also taking a risk because her career may never recover if this goes poorly (critically / commercially).
She went the Nicki route as far as image. Tone it down because the extra and over dramatic mess had run its course. Risky would be her continuing the path she was on from her first album to her last and becoming even more outlandish. And lets be real. Had Artpop been a success, Joanne wouldn't exist.
No, and this new stripped down approach looks extremely forced. No wonder she's alienating her fans!
It's like a continuation of what she was trying to do with Cheek 2 Cheek, which was also forced and as boring as one could get.
I can't believe Gaga is actually doing this tbh. It's incredibly sad how she's turned her back to all that made her a star and it's willing to change all that up to appeal to the straight crowd, all while letting the quality of her music tumble down with it. Tragic!
Lol. She toned down her image because the extra mess she was doing got annoying and was no longer working. Where's the "risk" in that? If she'd made this change in 2009/2010 then you'd have a case.
