Britney didn't re-release '...Baby One More Time'. In one year she actually went on to a whole different project, instead of hinding behind a "hmm, this is my 2nd album/No, it isn't, it's just an EP; No, wait, it's a gift for my fans" while also thinking "oh, being a re-release will get me more records" in order to prevent a possible underperformance.

Care to post 'The Fame' original sales before and without the sales from the re-release? Guess not.

1.6 million, which means that she's sold 3.7 million albums in the US in the past year alone

Oh, and are you sure 'The Fame' sold 12 million? Cause last I checked, Gaga was close to that number, but only when we count 'Fame' and 'Fame Monster' together. So...
|
whoever sells more albums tends to have higher first week sales and the only place britney might get a number 1 if they released an album the same week is the US. Her total sales are about 15 million albums and the fame monster was a re-release of the fame in most countries so is charted as the fame heres an article mentioning the fame sales http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/...n6739115.shtml

Oh my... Really, Little Monsters are the most peaceful stans of all. Neither we nor Gaga have anything to prove to anyone at this point. I wish the best 2011 to both of them, but hopes of Gaga being demolished are delusional. Gaga's at the top for me, but I'm a huge Britney fan as well. I don't understand why the Britney stans are pressed out of NOWHERE. I mean there's not even a single out... Don't try putting us or Gaga "in our place". I love me some Britney, but with that said...
I'm with you guys. I can't wait for Gaga to blast Britney off the charts once and for all so everyone can focus on the music.
PS- If both of them release in March, Katy and Ke$ha should begin writing their wills ASAP. 2011 is a wrap for them.

With all that she would most likely pass Britney, but not by much, unless there was a re-release... Which we all know, happened.
I won't even mention Britney's 2 weeks of promo against Gaga's 12 months non-stop, cause you guys are right, promo doesn't matter, huh? You're also all right on Britney being a HUGE established artist who doesn't need to lift a finger in order to sell close to 2 million in the US and 4 million worldwide on her name alone, something Gaga isn't and can't do, at least for... Another 8 years or so - I applaud you for admitting the truth. That said...

As for selling an "EP"... It depends on how big of a star you are. And there was NOBODY bigger than Gaga in the Pop scene one year ago, and considering all the facts I mentioned, we were to expect she would sell A LOT more.
|
Nope, I wasn't expecting her to sell more. EPs are flopping right and left. As I said, did you see the numbers pulled in by that girl who tra$hes Britney on the regular?
Back then I didn't know what to make of 325K.
Now that everyone is ripping off her EP release and we have some basis to compare it against, 325K looks downright monstrous.

Oh honey... Like, why are you trying to find stuff to hold on to? The fact that Britney has been here for 10 years and Gaga was in her debut year? How does that make one better than the other? I mean... Britney is established, Gaga wasn't in 2009. Of course she's gonna promote more. How does that make Britney better? Your logic isn't very intelligent at all... And you know it of course, you just want to keep nagging this pointless discussion.
Gaga is the hottest thing right now. She is THE dominant figure in pop music. Of course Britney established, but Gaga is way bigger than anyone else, basic b*tches and top tier ones included. Who knows if she'll last as long as Britney. But for now, she IS the queen.
