I am so glad #HeterosexualPrideDay is a thing and I'm so proud to be an ally of the straight community even though I'll never be able to understand the struggles they endure on a day-to-day basis, like...

• being bullied for being straight

• possibly being fired for being straight because straightness isn't protected by anti-discrimination laws

• having major religions condemn their sexuality

• being disowned by their family and shunned by their friends for being straight

• fighting for the right to marry and adopt children even though they pay taxes like everyone else

• not being able to donate blood if they have heterosexual sex

• being victim to offensive phrases like "bro, that's so straight!"

• being afraid to simply hold their straight partner's hand in public

• not being exposed to or learning about straight sexuality growing up or even in health class

• being generalized and stereotyped for being straight

• lacking straight representation in the media

• suffering the existence of programs that encourage praying the straight away or converting to society's norm or homosexuality

• having their sexuality framed as a choice even though no one in their right mind would choose to be straight considering all the disadvantages that come with it

• watching helplessly as their straight peers are murdered just for loving members of the opposite sex

Gay people need to accept their privilege and just let straight people have this one day!
