She swears she's misunderstood but the very thing she explained is exactly why folks are rolling their eyes. She has no historical perspective, no concept of the history of rap and its place in popular music. Rap has had to fight tooth and nail to be treated like a legitimate expression of art and music. She's yet another white person making money off of pretending to be black for the sake of her music and we're supposed to be impressed? She acts like she desegregated a genre, but there's a good reason why rap wasn't really looking for more white voices to be heard. She hasn't broken any barriers that needed to be broken. She's an unwelcome house guest who has invited herself into hip-hop's home.
