it's so weird when people that have probably only ever heard like 1 Kpop song (probably one from like 2011/2012) call the entire industry tacky, cheap and generic because they think every Kpop song is dance-pop orientated.

Many Kpop artists are writing and composing their whole albums.. and to call it completely manufactured when the biggest groups in the world right now (1D, Little Mix, and 5H) were all put together on reality shows is really unfair.

almost every artist signed to a major label is shaped in some way to be marketed to a specific audience. our artists and labels are no better than theirs.

I would say the word is 'structured'. Everything seems a lot more clinical, particularly with regards to rollout, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I can't fully get into it because I don't understand it. I connect with music on an emotional level. If I don't know what's being said, I can't get into it. Although, I do enjoy some K-pop acts and songs.

I mean y'all like it "doesn't sound the same" but every time I tried listening to the albums all the tracks were hard to tell apart because they were so similar in structure and breakdowns so I mean cling onto that "some songs have ~artistic quality~" boat. I'm sure it doesn't but the way the genre presents itself is very one note so don't act shocked lol

Im not saying it's a bad thing either but let's not defend a spade when it's clearly fine being a spade.

No, because English is a much more universal language compared to say Korean. We've had Gangnam style and that's about it.

didn't Rihanna used to put out an album every 6 months? Ariana puts out an album every year, so does 1D, so did Justin during his 1st few years. Gaga didn't go 1 year without having at least 3 singles out from 2009- to the end of the Born This Way era.

we can't blame them for trying to make as much money as possible, it is a business after all and artists come and go so they need to strike while they're hot.

there are quite a few Kpop artists that don't have strict release schedules and just put out music when they feel ready. BoA and Wonder Girls are great examples because they also wrote and/or composed pretty much the entirety of their new albums.

i do agree with you that the rollout and release schedules can be problematic though, it must be very intense for the artists since they'll also have solo endeavours too.
