Chasing The Sun a promo single of Hilary Duff without TV promotion, etc outsold GUY, peaked in the top 20 of iTunes, while GUY didn't even enter the top 100

It's more than her having a downfall. She at one point was selling way better than most of her peers like way more. She's now below or slightly on par with them. That's a downfall. I'm not comparing Gaga to the others when I says she's flopped I'm comparing her to HER own standards that she set. Her album sales should be stronger when she had a huge following on her previous releases. She lost her album, singles, and touring power in one era, and a significant amount of each one at that if that's not a downfall idk what is.

The "normal standard" for the biggest female pop artists these days is to sell upwards of 3M WW w/ at least 1M of that coming from the US. Gaga has yet to sell 2M WW or scan platinum.

PRISM promo was so minimal tho, besides a few tv performances here and there it wasn't as aggressive as Gags and Tony their promo (TV Specials, H&M Campaign EVERYWHERE, TV Offer, Radio & TV Commercials playing every commercial break, billboards, etc)

All these EXCUSES Gaga underperformed for her own standards. The monsters raved about how she was out grossing and out performing everyone except Adele and now that she's not at the top of the pack we should make excuses for her ?
Some of you are really mistaking the point of this thread. Yes, it was a step down - literally no one is refuting that. The point is that this step down was simply a step down from heights that almost no one ever achieves to the level that is expected of most pop girls - just not of Gaga because of that astronomical height she reached. I don't understand why this is so hard to get. Let's compare Gaga's latest album with the latest album of other girls, shall we?
As you can see, ARTPOP, while being a step down from Gaga's usual heights, is in the upper third of each of these lists (other than in critical reception, where she is still on par with other major releases such as Prism, Unapologetic, and Bangerz), and, as seen through the bolded pieces of text, is still on par with other major releases that are often lauded as successes on this site and elsewhere.
