She's become one of the early X Factor favourites - but it took Jade Richards five years to get the chance to prove herself in front of the judges.
Despite auditioning every year, the 21-year-old tattooed rocker had never made it past the initial researchers stage.
But on Saturday, she became an overnight sensation singing Adele's Someone Like You, moving judges Kelly Rowland and Louis Walsh to tears.
Jade, from Buckhaven in Fife, said: "This is the fifth time I've auditioned. I've never got anywhere on it before. I've never got to sing in front of the judges.
"The first time was when I was 16 and I've tried every year since.
"But not getting to sing in front of the judges has worked out.
I'm glad I didn't sing in front of the judges before because it gave me a chance to do gigs and get experience.
"I think when you're 16, you're not ready. I was able to mature and decide what kind of singer I want to be.
"It's been a good year for me."
Jade's granny Jane, who came with her to the audition, was also in tears after her grandaughter's moving performance.
Y
et the Adele song wasn't even her first choice. Jade revealed that she initially performed Etta James' All I could Do Was Cry.
The judges liked it but wanted some hopefuls to sing a couple of songs to see how they coped. Louis asked if she'd sing Someone Like You and Jade admitted that, at first, she was reluctant.
She said: "I didn't want to sing it because everyone at the auditions had been singing her songs.
