As I said before, "k-pop" is an umbrella term for it all in general but there are soooooo many genres tucked into that one name. Even if you meant directly pop songs, that has not been true since like.... 2012?

YES. i should know as a britney stan. Britney and other artists who rely heavily on choreo aren't taken seriously in the west anymore which is why they're flopping. Pop music just isn't the same as it used to be anymore, everyone is finding a new sound or they're following trends and currently the trend is DJ features, urban and acoustic. you can just blame the west for currently having **** taste.

Choreography started falling out of favor in the west after the death of the boy bands/girl groups in the 2000s and then ~genuine~ artists like Adele and indie types started getting popular. It would be seen as weird to see the Chainsmokers doing choreographed arm movements today to Closer

It's not fair to say that the kpop industry is behind the west when they aren't really on the same timeline. The kpop industry is a whole different world of cultural and social norms and such and it doesn't seem like it'll ever follow the path of the western music scene. As long as companies like SM/JYP/YG exist, heavily trained to dance girl/boy groups will keep being pumped out into the market.

The trends Koreans are on are exports. That's my entire point. On top of that, like I previously said, these current trends are based on previous US trends from the 1990's and late 80's.

And what question? I'm not going to discuss if Kpop cinematography is better than Western cinematography because that's simply a matter of taste, and has nothing to do with the region since there are plenty of talented Korean film-makers, producers, directors, etc. In fact, the best LGBT themed movies I've seen are all Korean. I definitely prefer G-Dragon and CL over 99% of all K-pop artists, and I think both are much better than most US pop and rap stars. However, I don't think a single K-pop artist is better than Beyonce, Lady Gaga, or rapper better than Kanye West or the old guard of authentic 90's rappers from Harlem and LA.
