You can appreciate her support without liking her as an artist.

Isn't this backing up his point? She doesn't feed us ****, which is why this video exists. She's not our boss, our mother, or our savior so what is she feeding us? She is not the only one or the first one who has spoken up for equality.

The songs were all made around the time gays were committing suicides. These girls aren't fools, they saw a chance for a hit and ran with it, weve been over that many times. Gaga may have started working on hers before then, but she wanted that "Gay Crown" and has wanted it since the gays declared her their queen. You cannot tell me Born This Way was 100% honest, with no intention of milking gays for everything we give to women we worship.
And girl the title is here for ratings, I don't flop.
|
I agree with what you posted here about the gerls wanting a quick hit. And I don't remember what we disagreed about so let's leave it at that.
But you also cannot tell me that a lot of people aren't ungrateful ****s towards Gaga

When does she sing about the hard life of a gay person? "Born This Way" is about EVERYONE. "No matter gay, straight or bi / lesbian, transgendered life."

Honestly, these gerls love to diss Gaga when it comes to the whole gay thing, but what are they doing? Are they out actively doing things in order to forward the gay community? Or are they going to pride hooking up with other men?

This fool will not say Kelly Rowland is more of a gay icon than Lady GaGa & get away with it. No one is being fooled by that.

And if I look for "Lady Gaga Gay Icon", the first hit is the wikipedia page for Gay Icon (in which she is mentioned) and the third one an article from Washington Post titled "Lady Gaga, Already a Gay Icon, Shows She's an Activist Too"? I appreciate that Kelly Rowland is LGBT friendly and has a relatively large gay fanbase but let's not act like she's more of a gay icon than Lady Gaga
Oh and since Lady Gaga is way more well known than Kelly Rowland obviously she's gonna have more people against her too. I don't consider Kelly Rowland to be my gay icon or spokesperson but I don't go on the internet screaming about that cause no one would give a ****.

Are you really quoting the media as credible sources for indication of gay icon status as if they crawl down to the dirty underground where gay icons are made?

THE PERFECT TIME TO BRING OUT THESE KIND OF SONGS! It gives people a relatable song. What is wrong with that. What is wrong making a song about important happenings in the world? Gay suicides rose, people write. When wars occur, people write songs about wars. It's just the way it is.

Will never know how it feels to be bullied while being gay! Though some statements weren't quite right but being straight I don't know how it feels, okay I forgot what I was going to say
|
Bullying doesn't only apply to the gay people. This is the problem I have with gays, the world does not revolve around US. Violence, acts of hate, etc etc don't only apply to us.
BTW only has a few gay related lyrics in it. Do people choose to ignore that she's also speaking on racism and other things in the song? It's nawt one big fagfest of a record, and neither is Firework or Who R Who We R.

Well.. she doesn't really sing about the "hard life" of being gay, lesbian, bi, transgendered, right?
In Born This Way, she only says "I'm on the right track baby, I was born this way" "A different lover is not a sin"
It's not like she was singing how it's hard to be gay and bullied, she's only telling people that we are born like that and we shouldn't try to change it. You didn't have to be bullied in your past to sing about that.

She never claimed to be a boss, mother or savior of the gay community. All she has ever said about her involvement with the gay rights movement is that she's an advocate (and you'd be hard-pressed to come up with an argument of her not being a gay rights advocate).

In this discussion, can we please leave out the Kelly Rowland shade? This argument is simply discussing Lady Gaga and her actions as a gay rights advocate.

Yes and them was referring to Katy, Gaga, and Ke$ha. And he didn't say prejudice, he said "what weve been through" referring to gay bullying, or gay bashing, racism, and etc..., lets get our **** straight. Im pretty sure at this point in their life no one is rushing to be sexiest towards 3 of the biggest pop stars in the world.

Dirty underground blogs are within the scope of Google as well, yet nothing came up here. And you're basically saying that it's obvious Gaga is a gay icon if even the huge media are embracing her as such, and not just the "dirty underground". Where is the proof for Kelly Rowland being a gay icon besides her having expressed support towards the gay community a couple o' times? What has she actually done for the community that is even damn near comparable to what Gaga has done?

She's not the only one, but she has the most impact.
