So the south side of LI is being told to evacuate north my friend just messaged me about his family coming to stay with him...i hope my school has a ****in generator
The New England states have been saturated with rain for the past month or so. I think Philadelphia got drenched with 13 inches. That makes flooding very possible. It'll be bad whether it's a 1-5 because places like simply aren't prepared for it. The winds could blow glass out of the higher buildings. The higher the elevation the stronger the winds are. So if the conditions are a Category 1 at ground level for a multi-level building it's probably considered to be a Category 2+. Storm surges could definitely flood places like Stanton Island, etc. Anyway, the Weather Channel said it's going to be pretty bad and this is probably going to be the worst Hurricane to hit the Eastern seaboard in years.
People didn't take evacuating serious during Hurrican Katrina. If some of them would've simply evacuated the death toll might have been less steep. I wouldn't underestimate it and I would advise everyone to get out while they can and rather safe than sorry... Just my opinion.
Just for the month of August NYC has had like 10 inches of rain, this hurricane could cause some floods

Just This Month Already We Had 10 Inches Of Rain. That's About 5-6 Months Worth Of Rain In Just Weeks Amount Of Time. Now With The Hurricane Approaching We Could Get Another 5-8Inches Possible. This Is Just Too Much
They are predicting it will be that bad? I guess it's because that area doesn't usually get storms like the Gulf Coast, so they have to be extra cautious.
By the time it hit here, the winds had picked and it grew to a category 3, and a few meteorologists have labelled it a potential 4. I think we got the brunt of it, though -- there has been considerable damage on a few of the subsidiary islands.
Otherwise, we're alive. Bummed it ended bumping my flight, though.
