Islam itself is not the root cause of extremism otherwise you would see more of this kind of terrorist attacks being carried out by more Muslims everyday. That's not what I was referring too. I'm referring to the hate- and violence-littered texts in Abrahamic religions that need to be deemphasized.

There are not even that many violent instructions in Abrahamic scriptures. You will actually have to purposely search for them in order to find them because they are lost in the sea of other historical narratives and more important instructions, laws and commandments. Even the Quran contains much less violence than the Bible. The violence in Abrahamic scriptures apply only under specific circumstances (i.e., as self-defence or during war) that's why they mostly appear in the first 5 books of the Bible as part of the Torah and Pentateuch. They're not general injunctions for murder of unbelievers and innocent people. This is the very basic understanding of these religions and a requisite to be a true follower. To misinterpret them is wilful ignorance.

And yet religious institutions use those texts to justify criminalizing or prohibiting certain behaviors and acts. No religious texts should preach hate or violence. Religious people are certainly not using texts that preach love and acceptance to criminalize behavior. That would be counterintuitive.

When a 12-year-old girl is sexually abused and involved in modern slavery, do you blame the child?

I can't imagine anyone using four letter slurs towards an innocent girl of that age that has little to no control in the situation.

There's over 30 million slaves in the world, many of them children. Imagine blaming them and not the abusers. Yikes.
