Hope everyone had a great Christmas and holiday! Next up in this batch are 6 comedies, 3 dramas and 1 reality show:
The Top 220 TV Shows: 140-131
140) "Grandfathered" FOX
Grandfathered stars John Stamos as a bachelor who loves women and owns his own restaurant. Then one day, a son shows up and with him a granddaughter. Suddenly, his whole life is changing, where he is ready or not. Paget Brewster is probably my favorite part of this whole show. I love her delivery and she’s one of this seasons most underrated comedy MVPs. The show has a lot of heart and good laughs. I was surprised the show didn’t do as well as I anticipated in the ratings, but hopefully it can survive.
139) "The Originals" CW
Last Year: 89
This spinoff of The Vampire Diaries continued this year. While I enjoyed it, they already seemed to be running out of ideas and not very exciting. The show is a vampire show, so of course it will be a bit darker in tone and ideas, but it doesn’t really do anything to separate it from any other genre shows with vampires, wolves and witches. Pairing up TVD and TO this season was smart, and they could flourish on Fridays when they move to the new night in January. We’ll see!
138) "Marry Me" NBC
Last Year: 126
This NBC comedy started off okay, and as the ratings dropped, stayed pretty consistant. When the unaired episodes showed up online I jumped at the chance to finish the storylines and laughs. While the show tried to be Happy Endings 2.0, it never really reached that point. Though it did have a great group of characters. The cast will hopefully find better shows because I think they all have a lot of talent. Just bring back Happy Endings. That will make me and a whole lot of others very happy.
137) "Nashville" ABC
Last Year: 90
This country music drama continued to bring the drama this year. Dealing with pregnancy, death, family, work drama and so much more, it's pretty amazing how much they can fit into a season. The first season took a while figuring out the right balance and what kind of show it wanted to be, but now it’s a well oiled machine and works well. Though I wish Connie Britton had more to work with. She is a phonomenal actress as seen the amazing Friday Night Lights, and does the best she can with the material she’s given. The ratings are down again, and this could be the final season like Revenge dealt with last season. But we shall see!
136) "Melissa & Joey" ABC Family
Last Year: 101
This was the final year/season for Melissa & Joey. Melissa & Joey, now married, with the kids growing up and moving on slowly, have to juggle their personal lives with their professional lives. They deal with all kinds of situations and always make sure they’re happy together in the end. We saw Mel and Joe try to start their own family and struggle and persevere. After so many episodes, it was a good time to end it, but at the same time, I will miss the antics and laughs I got from watching!
135) "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" CW
This musical comedy is different than almost everything on TV right now. The CW picked it up after liking the pilot that Showtime passed on. They made it an hour show as the pilot was for a half hour series. The story follows a young woman who is stuck in life and makes a drastic change in her life. She’s moving to California from NY to follow an ex boyfriend and hope they can rekindle their love they shared at a summer camp. Yes I’m serious. While crazy in theory, the show makes it make sense. I’m a bit behind on a couple episodes, but from what I’ve seen, I like where the show was heading. There's a good mix of love life, work and play and the musical numbers are over the top and fun..
134) "Adventure Time" Cartoon Network
Last Year: 51
Yet again, another animated comedy on my list dropping a bunch. And again this was due to the fact that I watched less episodes of this great show. More unique and strange storylines happened which would only make sense in Adventure Time. We met more new characters, and the episodes I watched tended to focus less on Jake and Finn and more on secondary characters. It seems to have lost a little of its spark that got me hooked in earlier episodes, and that may have to do with the creator leaving the show. But it still is great and I will keep watching as long as there are new episodes. Oh and a movie will be coming at some point too!
133) "Childhood’s End" Syfy
This Syfy Mini series was an adaptation of the book of the same name. An alien arrives on Earth claiming to cure humanity of all its ailments and create world peace. But is everything as it really seems? Its broken into three 2 hour episodes, each one focuses on the same characters, but each individual episode focused moreso on one part of the whole story which I liked. I never read the book and assumed based on the name that it would be similar to the Torchwood: Children of Earth Series 3 storyline involving the 456 aliens taking children. While it ended up being similar in some aspects and clearly having inspired COE, it was different and enjoyable.
132) "Another Period" Comedy Central
This parody of Downton Abbey meets Kardashian reality show had me laughing my head off. The cast was perfect. So many talented comedians made the show shine. Hell, they had Christina Hendricks, fresh off of Mad Men playing a conniving servant named “Chair”. One of the MVPs yet again was Paget Brewster. I loved seeing her in so many comedic roles this year. The situations were hilarious, over the top, and absurd. I can’t wait to see more crazy situations between the family and servants in season 2.
131) "Food Network Star" Food Network
Last Year: 119
After last year’s disaster, the show went back to basics and made sure to try and highlight more of the cooking aspect than the being a celebrity aspect of the show. We saw competitors cook all different things, have all different challenges, and had a solid group of contestants. I didn’t really instantly connect to one, though I did think Jay would be a great winner. So they cook and baked and what not, then in the final episode of competition before the winners announcement episode, they give them pilots to film for the crown. None of the pilots involved ANY cooking. What was the point of having them develop a food POV, when their pilot was a glorified Diners Drive Ins & Dives show. And then the winner, Eddie, got a food competition show hosting job??? It made no sense and left a sour taste in my mouth having devoted time to this season. Next season better get it right.

Hopefully I’ll get another one out soon! The Top 220 TV Shows: 130-121 will be up next!
