sure there are some years that the grammies get it right IMO for the winners, but the nomination WILL NEVER be perfect...there will ALWAY be someone snubbed/someone who doesnt deserve it...

The Only Reason Graffiti Was Panned was because of the situation. They were mad because he chose not to make his album about it. It's clear in the reviews when they talked more about the situation than the actual album. Miss me with the BS. Do you even know what contrived means? Find several seats toots. Rated R Wasn't, Isn't, And WON'T ever Be nominated at the grammy's no matter how many threads you make, no matter how many times you bang away at those keys on your eMachine. Critically panned or the grammys dont agree and the nerve of you to talk about Katy not platinum yet When Rated R did the SAME THING for the longest to scan platinum. Not that a platinum album = grammy nods but dont even get me started on how Loud did the EXACT same thing as Teenage Dream. Had top 5 hits from the album ( in addition to being featured on a big summer song LTWYL) and just barely reached the outskirts of 200K its first week

You are right, there were always controversies about the Grammies. I just feel that back then artists did not gain a great number of nominations merely because of some hits. It was not easy at all, and that was reflected in the way nominations were divided among many different artists. Back then it was harder to win grammies and the variety of artists getting nominated actually represented the reality of the music industry imo. Now I feel that this ceremony lives in its own bubble and gives its awards only to Hot 100 hits, whether they deserve them or not. I believe that nowadays the Grammies are used as a tool by the industry in order to boost overall market sales by promoting the hottest releases of the moment. That was not necessary in the past when the industry was alive on its own.

That's how I view the current situation.

see now i dont agree with ths...cuz i feel that in the 90's it was more controlled, you pretty much had to appeal more to an older crowd to get nominated or even win...

i think that since the times are changing, and there are new grammy voters out their, that changes how people are gonna get nominated
