You can't "without their first albums". They were idolized and sought after enough to achieve those sales. If people cared about Beyonce alone as much as they did DC3, her debut album would've sold a lot more to bump her overall sales up, is a more accurate look at it. It could've been since 50 Cent sold 6 million that year, with Usher following up the next with 10 million on his 4th album. To be fair, the lovely Dangerously In Love had more album gems than singles.

There was an official article on Billboard's site saying it did.

The Long Road Out of Eden leads to the #1 best-selling album in the country this week, but the Eagles won’t be topping the HITS Album chart.
That dubious honor will go to Britney Spears’ Blackout this week, even though it won’t sell half of Eden’s estimated 700K.
|
But then they changed their mind. I will NEVER forget how Billboard screwed her over.

|
Selling over 100k-140k+ a week, 21 will get there in a few months. She's only about 1.3-1.4 million away, which is about 12-14 more weeks of selling the way she is. Next single needs to come at the right time.

Oh please, not only was it a different time. But she was already known and established so she was not gonna snatch 10 million US from her debut like 50 Cent who was a new artist, or Usher who has NEVER had a big album prior to Confessions. My point is Britney and Christina both just seemed to take a huge plunge (US) after the original wall of glory left from around them. Sure Christina got another huge album, but since Oops Britney hasn't had a big album. Beyonce managed to still sell 7 million with I Am Sasha Fierce and its not only her third solo, but its like her 8th album career wise.

You can’t compare a heavily promoted album like “I Am… Sasha Fierce” to “Circus.” But even if you do, "Circus" still wins. “Circus” has sold 4 million with far less promotion, which is 1 million per single, while “I Am… Sasha Fierce” has sold 7 million supported by eight singles, which is 0.875 million per single.
