How could you leave Cry and Higher out of the highlights They're two of the better songs
They're kinda overrated. Still though, they snatch so, whatever.

He's OK I guess. His album was a cute ambient record. His work as part of Global Communications tho >>>

I feel like I've had to say this in 583253 Best Ofs so far because Charli's charted in so many, but I'm not really a fan of Charli's EP. The title track and Secrets are nice but the other 2 really messed things up for me.
Side B tho Well deserved #1, I just wish Roses was a little better.
Best Album Covers:
ANTI
Don't know these but they look great: 99 Cents, Bonito Generation, JEFFREY, San Benito, Third Law, Under the Sun
idk, the Vroom Vroom EP's a bit of an... acquired taste. The whole PC Music thing is a bit hit-or-miss even for me but I loved it.
Genre: Folktronica, Progressive Electronic, Ambient Pop
2016 has been a huge year for Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, her second album 'EARS' got a lot of attention from many publications, she made another record with new age legend Suzanne Ciani. This song is one of her best to date, it sounds like a mix of early Oneohtrix Point Never, Hundred Waters and Juana Molina (if she sung in English).
Genre: Art Pop, Synthpop, Progressive Pop
The LUH/Lost Under Heaven (did they change their name or something? lmao) album was kind of a mess. It wasn't bad as a whole, but the guy's voice gets annoying after a while specially when it's autotuned over a pop tune. But this song uses The Haxan Cloak's production and both of the band members' voices to create a beautiful call-and-response Kate Bush-ian anthem.
Genre: Industrial Hip Hop, Post-Industrial, Shoegaze
Honestly I wasn't a big fan of VIOLENCE's debut album, but this song stuck with me for the longest time. Dev Hynes-approved noise-shoegaze-synth-industrial-rap (or something like that) that sounds like a Dälek track dealing with themes of oppression, queer anxiety and angst. It's intense and loud, to say the least.
I was surprised by the fact that I didn't find Julianna Barwick's 2016 album 'Will' all that interesting, but this is one of the moments which I come back to frequently. It's probably the most blatantly electronic thing she has ever done (but in a Eno-kinda way?), and it's gorgeous.
Genre: Dance-Pop, Contemporary R&B, Pop Reggae
I must admit that this my least favorite single out of the 'Dangerous Woman' era (which is kinda frustrating that this one was the most successful one), but even then it has excellent hook and it's probably the most explicit approach I've ever seen Ariana take on her sexuality. Which is cool too. And Nicki too I guess.
Genre: Ambient Pop, Ambient, Drone
Another ambient album I wish I had paid more attention to was Ian William Craig's 'Centres'. This song can't go unnoticed though - a ten minute track, its first half with Bon Iver-esque autotuned vocals and the other one with beautiful ambient drones, it's kinda emotional.
Genre: Ambient Pop, Art Pop, Progressive Pop
I didn't really enjoy Róisín's atmospheric ballads on her previous record, but this one feels a bit darker and beautiful (it is also helped by the fact that the melodies are catchier), also I don't really know how to explain why, but I love the video for this so much.
Genre: Electropop, Synthpop, Dance-Pop
I still don't know what Poppy's purpose is. I don't know if she's a pop singer with a side career as a YouTuber, if a YouTuber with a side career as a pop star, a "social commentary" on fame and the music industry, or if it's just some dudes trying to mock people who listen to pop music. Either way though, there's one thing that's impossible to deny: this song is excellent.
Genre: Electropop, Glitch Pop, Wonky
Flume's album featured a lot of unconvincing features with big mainstream acts (like Beck or Vic Mensa), and at first I thought "Say It" was like that too, but eventually I learnt to love the combination of his futuristic production with Tove Lo's raspy vocals and violent songwriting. It also helps that this is better than about 3/4 of 'Lady Wood'.
Genre: Electropop, Synthpop, Minimal Synth
Imagine if CHVRCHES were more lo-fi and were fronted by Alan Vega, well then you'll begin to get an idea why I liked this. It's catchy and fun but also super dark for some reason. Their EP was fine, but I really need an album from them next year. That would be awesome I bet.
Genre: Glitch Pop, Bubblegum Bass, Progressive Pop
OK I hated this song so much the first 30 times I heard it but suddenly it clicked and WOAH. I didn't like "Wannabe" the other song from Lipgloss Twins (PC Music's A.G. Cook and felicita), but this song is easily everything I want avant-garde electropop to be. Also shoutout to Lisa Frank I guess.
Genre: Footwork, Future Garage, Electropop
The Range's second album wasn't as exciting as I was expecting it to be (but it's still good, check it if you're into like, Jamie xx and Machinedrum), but this song is fantastic. Taking a sample from a girl's cover of "You'll Never Know" by Ari (they are now working on an updated version of it by the way!) he made this extremely euphoric banger.
Genre: Post-Punk, Synth Punk, Industrial Techno
CC Dust wasn't the only Suicide-influenced song on this countdown, as this seems to be like some sort of updated version of their sound. Jonnine Standish from HTRK (a.k.a. Jonny) lends her vocals for this glitchy punk burst of energy. Also the video for this is the most stupid, fun thing ever. I don't want to see a watermelon ever again though.
Genre: Electropop, Dancehall, Dance-Pop
In theory this would be one of Sia's worst singles. But I'm so happy this became a huge hit because it's such a fun, unpretentious song with an extremely catchy hook and a sweet dancehall influence (see also: the Sean Paul version). Easily the third best #1. hit of the year.
Genre: Glitch Pop, Art Pop, IDM
While not one of the best tracks on her third album 'Tempo', Olga's "ATA" is a seductive FKA twigs-meets-Holly Herndon track with extremely sick beats, nice melodies and good lyrics. It also has a very nice video too. Not surprised she shares label with Björk to be honest.
Olga, Powell, and Poppy I agree about everything you said on STS. And Lipgloss Twins are my favourite PC Music people right now, I still don't get them but at the same time they blow my mind
