Let's go deeper in my list of the best albums of 2012. Highlights of the album, as always, are bolded. Today, my reviews will be short because I'm so tired right now.
90. Chris Brown – Fortune
Score: 64.64/100
Fortune – Track by Track
Turn Up The Music – 8
Bassline – 6
Till I Die (Feat. Big Sean & Wiz Khalifa) – 7
Mirage (Feat. Nas) – 8
Don't Judge Me – 7
2012 – 7.5
Biggest Fan – 6.5
Sweet Love – 8
Strip (Feat. Kevin McCall) – 7
Stuck On Stupid – 4
4 Years Old – 5
Party Hard / Cadillac (Interlude) (Feat. Sevyn) – 5
Don't Wake Me Up – 5
Trumpet Lights (Feat. Sabrina Antoinette) – 6.5
"Fortune" is just a try hard and messy album released by a woman beater. Chris should stick up to his R&B roots. Dance songs are not really working for him.
89. Lana Del Rey – Born to Die
Score: 65.00/100
Born to Die – Track by Track
Born to Die – 8
Off to the Races – 9
Blue Jeans – 7
Video Games – 8
Diet Mountain Dew – 4
National Anthem – 7
Dark Paradise – 8
Radio – 6
Carmen – 5
Million Dollar Man – 4
Summertime Sadness – 7
This Is What Makes Us Girls – 5
Y'all already saw my review for "Paradise". The situation with "Born to Die" is not very different. It is just a typical Lana album - lackluster and pretty boring and monotonous.
88. Rihanna – Unapologetic
Score: 65.70/100
Unapologetic – Track by Track
Phresh Out The Runway – 7
Diamonds – 7.5
Numb (feat. Eminem) – 7.5
Pour It Up – 5
Loveeeeeee Song (feat. Future) – 8
Jump – 6
Right Now (feat. David Guetta) – 6
What Now – 8
Stay (feat. Mikky Ekko) – 9
Nobody's Business (feat. Chris Brown) – 1
Love Without Tragedy / Mother Mary – 7
Get It Over With – 7
No Love Allowed – 6
Lost in Paradise – 7
The 7th album of the Bajan domestic abuse victim and label puppet Rihanna is not very different from her last albums - she just follows the trends, makes them #1 singles and stirs controversies. The album just not artistic at all. Hopefully her 8th album, that will be released less than an year will be better.
87. 2 Chainz – Based on a T.R.U. Story
Score: 68.08/100
Based on a T.R.U. Story – Track by Track
Yuck! (feat. Lil Wayne) – 7
Crack – 7
Dope Peddler – 7
No Lie (feat. Drake) – 9
Birthday Song (feat. Kanye West) – 8.5
I'm Different – 7
Extremely Blessed (feat. The-Dream) – 6
I Luv Dem Strippers (feat. Nicki Minaj) – 8
Stop Me Now (feat. Dolla Boy) – 7
Money Machine – 5
In Town (feat. Mike Posner) – 4
Ghetto Dreams (feat. Scarface & John Legend) – 7
Wut We Doin? (feat. Cap1) – 6
In 2012, male rappers delivered some really amazing album. 2 Chainz's "Based on a T.R.U. Story" is an exception, though. It's not that bad for a debut album but despite the many features it sounds flat. Oh, his voice is kind of annoying, too.
86. David Guetta – Nothing but the Beat 2.0
Score: 69.00/100
Nothing but the Beat 2.0 – Track by Track
Titanium (feat. Sia) – 10
Turn Me On (feat. Nicki Minaj) – 7
She Wolf (Falling to Pieces) [feat. Sia] – 9.5
Without You (feat. Usher) – 8
I Can Only Imagine (feat. Chris Brown & Lil Wayne) – 6
Play Hard (feat. Ne-Yo & Akon) – 9
Wild One Two (feat. David Guetta, Nicky Romero, Sia) – 6
Just One Last Time (feat. Taped Rai) – 6.5
In My Head (feat. Nervo) – 7.5
Where Them Girls At (feat. Nicki Minaj & Flo Rida) – 5
Little Bad Girl (feat. Taio Cruz & Ludacris) – 6
Sweat (Snoop Dogg vs. David Guetta) [Remix] – 5
Crank It Up (feat. Akon) – 8
Nothing Really Matters (feat. will.i.am) – 5
Every Chance We Get We Run (feat. Tegan & Sara) – 5
"Nothing but the Beat 2.0" is just a typical dance album. The only difference with any other dance album is that it was blessed with the heavenly vocals by Sia. The rest of the album is pretty generic and sound the same to me.
85. Pitbull – Global Warming
Score: 69.17/100
Global Warming – Track by Track
Global Warming (feat. Sensato) – 3
Don't Stop the Party (feat. TJR) – 7
Feel This Moment (feat. Christina Aguilera) – 8
Back in Time – 7
Hope We Meet Again (feat. Chris Brown) – 6
Party Ain't Over (feat. Usher) – 9
Drinks for You (Ladies Anthem) [feat. Jennifer Lopez] – 8
Have Some Fun (feat. The Wanted) – 6
Outta Nowhere (feat. Danny Mercer & Jamie Drastik) – 8
Tchu Tchu Tcha (feat. Enrique Iglesias) – 7
Last Night (feat. Havana Brown) – 8
I'm Off That – 6
Pitbull's 7th studio album "Global Warming" shows Pitbull at his best - "rapping" about cities and how global he is and collaborating with B-list celebrities. Nothing about the album is outstanding except Usher's vocals on "Party Ain't Over". Why didn't he include "Get It Started" on the album? It's better than half of the album tracks and definitely deserved a spot.
84. Ke$ha – Warrior
Score: 69.58/100
Warrior – Track by Track
Warrior – 7
Die Young – 4
C'mon – 6
Thinking of You – 6
Crazy Kids – 7
Wherever You Are – 7
Dirty Love – 7
Wonderland – 8.5
Only Wanna Dance With You – 7
Supernatural – 8
All That Matters (The Beautiful Life) – 8
Love Into the Light – 8
Ke$ha fails to deliver a solid album again. Despite being actually a little better than her 2 previous efforts, "Warrior" is just an epic fail. I'm still laughing about K$'s idea to release a Rock album. Good for her, it didn't happen. And good for her, the album won't scan even Gold.
83. Trey Songz – Chapter V
Score: 69.72/100
Chapter V – Track by Track
Chapter V – 5
Dive In – 9
Panty Wetter – 6
Heart Attack – 9
Playin' Hard – 7
2 Reasons (feat. T.I.) – 8
Hail Mary (feat. Young Jeezy & Lil Wayne) – 7
Don't Be Scared (feat. Rick Ross) – 6
Pretty Girl's Lie – 7,5
Bad Decisions – 7
Forever Yours – 8
Inside Interlewd – 4
Fumble – 6
Without a Woman – 7
Interlude4U – 6
Simply Amazing – 8
Never Again – 8
Check Me Out (feat. Meek Mill & Diddy) – 7
Trey Songz's last album - "Chapter V" is a good R&B album. It even reached #1 album on the BB Top 200. The problem with it, just like every other album of him, talks only about sex and nothing else. The songs are repetitive and uninspired.
82. Monica – New Life
Score: 71.25/100
New Life – Track by Track
New Life (Intro) – 7
It All Belongs to Me (with Brandy) – 8.5
Daddy's Good Girl – 8
Man Who Has Everything – 7
Big Mistake – 6
Take a Chance (feat. Wale) – 7
Without You – 7
Until It's Gone – 8
Amazing – 7
Cry – 6
Time to Move On – 7
New Life (Outro) – 7
Is the good sis Monica still thinking that we live in the mid-2000's? Probably yes, and probably that's why her album sounds so dated - straight from 2004. I still wonder if the album was of demos from the session of her 2003 album "After Dark" or not. She is such a big mess.
81. P!nk – The Truth About Love
Score: 71.54/100
The Truth About Love – Track by Track
Are We All We Are – 7
Blow Me (One Last Kiss) – 4
Try – 8
Just Give Me A Reason (feat. Nate Ruess) – 10
Truelove – 8.5
How Come You're Not Here – 7
**** Like You – 4
The Truth About Love – 7.5
Beam Me Up – 8
Walk Of Shame – 7
Here Comes The Weekend (feat. Eminem) – 6.5
Where Did The Beat Go? – 8
The Great Escape – 7.5
Ever since I heard "Blow Me (One Last Scream)", I knew that "The Truth About Love" will be a pretty bad album. I was totally right. The album is full of bad, very bad vocals and a lot of filler tracks. Thank God the Nate Ruess assisted "Just Give Me A Reason " is on the album, without it the album probably wouldn't have made even the top 100.
That's all for today, folks. More coming tomorrow.
