The final 3 later tonight as well as the beginning of a very short album top 15 which will probably be done by tomorrow, which is when the top 50 singles will begin.
3. Till The World Ends - Britney Spears
Up until just a few months ago, I was convinced this would be the best video of the year. Why? It has everything. The apocalyptic theme that I die hard for in every way possible, the fact that it's so flawlessly shot by Ray Kay, with every shot and scene looking intense and flat-out epic, and well.. the song is amazing. The song needed a video that both fit the video and was worthy of such an epic track, and we were served it with this video. Britney looked better than ever in this video, especially in the scenes where she was in front of the wall of lights. It's the 2011 Slave 4 U music video set in the future. The massive party track got served a cup full of the 2012 teas that I will be watching on 12/21/2012 and watching it charge up iTunes charts.
2. We Found Love (feat. Calvin Harris) - Rihanna
This video is so shocking. The first time I saw it I was so impressed with it because I have yet to see such a personal video come from Rihanna, because while she and her director deny it, I find it very hard to believe that parallels between this video's storyline and her relationship with Chris Brown are mere coincidence, cause it seems all too similar. But that's not the point. I originally thought the song was a happy track about finding love in the strangest of places, but it's really about trying to keep love even though it's practically impossible. The look of the music video is so cool and interesting because it doesn't look incredibly polished like Criminal or Super Bass but still looks professionally done and fits the general theme of the music video. As her best music video so far, We Found Love makes a bold yet shocking statement throughout the video in the usual outspoken manner just like Ms Fenty would.
1. Marry The Night - Lady Gaga
This video is seriously beyond words. The prologue already made me know for sure that I'd be instantly in love with the music video, cause it's just so... raw. Much like the Gaga I like would do. The video wasn't overly brash, obnoxious or offensive like Alejandro was, but it wasn't underwhelming or holding back like The Edge of Glory was. With this video, Gaga finds the balance of making a controversial video she was lacking since Bad Romance/Telephone, speaking that Judas still had flaws and You And I wasn't a controversial video. The fact that it's 14 minutes and still perfectly uses every single second of it makes it that much better, cause I can still sit down and watch the whole thing from start to finish. It's to the point that it's worthy of being extended to a short film. The fact it seems so mysterious during the prologue makes it even more enduring in the beginning, makes you want to know what's going on. Then, it shifts to her meltdown, which I find to be one of the most interesting scenes in music videos in a very long time. It's bizarre, it's confusing, it's shocking. She also places witty humor within the video, like saying "You may say I lost everything, but I still had.. my bedazzler," and while I had to Google the word bedazzler, it made me laugh when I understood the ironic humor. The parking lot scenes are dark, grim, and empowering, especially the explosion that's seen in the single cover that's later in the video. Then there's the dance in the second chorus, where the choreography was just SPECTACULAR. And it advances to my favorite part of the song and favorite part of the video, which begins from 12:36 and goes all the way to the end, where it flashes between various scenes. It's just EPIC. I think it was obvious this would be the #1 pick since I used the phoenix scene as the banner for the video, but I don't care, cause when it was explained to me, my mind was ****ed, not to mention it looks awesome. This video is incredible. It shows off a bit of Gaga's acting, a ton of her amazing dance skills, and most importantly, the way that the Gaga the world praised in 2009-2010 is slowly coming back.
**** it, I'll post the first 5 when I feel like it. I apologize for being messy but I could give so many more ****s than I actually do about my organization.
