It'll probably mirror the Taking Chances Tour. A New Day was like 7 years with 400 shows at Caesars. She probably won't make that much, but she also could.

Congrats to everybody. Can't wait to see the numbers when Gaga's tour ends.
Obviously the whole thread is infested with the Madonna just-for-MDNA-tour-receipts bandwagon.

And it was only her second tour
I can see Red Tour pulling in bigger numbers, especially since she said she's going to tour in South America

Madonna SHOULD be doing better than Gaga in concert gross, but both are doing very well on a global basis in an industry that has seen huge decline. No reason to downplay the success of either one, we should celebrate that the avant garde elements of Pop in either case are still supported and that Gaga is carrying on the theatrical legacy which includes Bowie, Madonna, MJ, and Prince. Madonna is a great entertainer and so is Gaga, Madonna's career is towards it's end while Gaga is just beginning. Perfect transition IMO.

I get what you're saying in some parts, but it age shouldn't play a part in whether or not an artist can sell. The demographic for artists like Bon Jovi, U2, Bruce Springsteen and AC/DC are anywhere from people in their mid-20s and upwards. If we were matching age to artist where would The Rolling Stones land? Their median age is about 65.
The Stones themselves defended their $800 tickets because for the show they put on, they can't make it worth the cost for less. Madonna's tours seem to be trying to outdo her last each go around, so I see this is where the high prices come from.
You lost me on the last comment though, saying that Madonna's career is ending. I was questioning Barbara Streisand who had tickets for her Barbra Live Tour at $500 for floor tickets for an album that debuted at number 7 in the US when the mainstream radio does not play her music. Even with this, the tour made over $40 million for only 12 shows.

The delusion in this thread
Gaga's numbers are far from disappointing. The fact that she is four years into her career and constantly putting up great numbers says a lot about her touring power, and it's not even including all the full dates in 2012.
Madonna's are impressive as well. The fact that she is so far into her career and still being a global touring face says a lot about her as well.
There's no need to compare the two They both did amazing.

The one and only Queen of Pop always on top. The others better know their place.
Disappointing numbers on the so-called biggest act of the last years.

Barbra and Madonna are wildly different types of artists. Will people watch a Madonna stage show without the theatrics when she's 70? Barbra doesn't have to do anything but stand in front of an audience, but that is what her whole career has been.

Michael Jackson selling and he's not even present.
I really want to see that show, tho. Cirque Du Soliel is amazing on its own, but with Michael?

If Cher at 66 brings in over $200M with her next tour, then Madonna will definitely be able to continue to be a touring force too.

GaGa claimed her Peru show had an audience of 50,000, whereas actual ticket sales were reported to be around 17,000, with many tickets for the show being given away free as part of a buy-one-get-one-free deal.

The photo was just a joke, calm down
Audience in Peru wasn't 25k or 50k, that's the point. Some brazilians numbers are inflated too.
